PROBE OF BLIND SHEIK LED TO ATTA (Able Danger)
NY Post ^ | 8/24/05 | NILES LATHEM

WASHINGTON — A Pentagon secret intelligence team identified 9/11 leader Mohamed Atta through a probe of blind Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman — the mastermind of the first attempt to destroy the World Trade Center, it was revealed yesterday.

An outside contractor to the intelligence unit, code named Able Danger, has told congressional staffers Atta's name was discovered by a computer data-mining search of connections to Abdel-Rahman, the Muslim cleric in prison for inspiring the 1993 trade center bombing and a plot to blow up New York landmarks.

Contractor James D. Smith testified that a California researcher was later able to purchase Atta's photograph from an Islamic Web site, officials confirmed.

-snip-

"[Data analyst J.D. Smith] found Atta by linkages not to immigration issues but to the mosque system," he said. "Basically [Atta] was associating with known radical clerics."

1993 WTC bomber Ramzi Yousef's passport was Iraqi.

And according to telephone records was in frequent contact with people back home in Iraq - think this escaped the notice of Saddam & henchmen?

Jim Fox, head of the FBI in New York at the time, was convinced that WTC 1 was a false flag operation backed by Iraq. But LEO's had to treat it as a criminal investigation under Clinton's Justice Dept. A few perps, a independent mastermind who wanted to bring down the towers - cause he was demented or something.

one of the last researchers to gain access to the Stasi archives in Berlin before the German government reclassified key parts of it as secret in 2002

This would have been just prior to when the US and UK went to the UN Security Council for authorization to prosecute all of the resolutions that Saddam had ignored.

We suspected at the time that Germany, France and Russia were violating UN sanctions against Iraq. Later, when the oil-for-food scandal broke, we found out that it was even more corruption than we originally thought.

I for one would be interested in finding out just how deep into aiding the Islamofascists STASI (and probably the KGB) were and what cooperation continued between former agents after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Some of the diehard communists have harbored deep resentment about the collapse of the Soviet Bloc, it is not out of the realm of possibility that they would help al Qaida and other terrorists simply to get revenge against the US.

The nexus between islamofascists and communists is no paranoid fantasy.

Control freaks are control freaks, just draped in different flags. Including, sometimes, ours.

When you see an American leftist "draped" in an American flag, let me know! I won't be holding my breath!

hehe! But you get my point- these leftist America haters are more than willing to use their false 'patriotism', wave flags and all that crap, and say 'don't question my patriotism!'

They can use those surface appearances all they want. We know better. And many of those people are in Federal buildings in DC.

So we are talking about the 'blind sheik' defended by the attorney found guilty of supporting terrorism who is a buddy of Cindy Sheehan.

small world, ain't it?

you guys are amazing -- pulling all this information together is a skill needed in our gov't agencies -- and apparently, when there, is dismissed

Yes, this is when our alleged, Laura Wale started posting.

Curious,indeed.
Thank you for pulling that up.

I wonder how Laura Wale is doing today.
It appears she was not treated very well here.
It's not often you get a firsthand source. Considering the experience of Laura Wale, giving someone that claims to be Laura Wale the benefit of the doubt and common respect doesn't seem unreasonable.

IMO, she was treated well by the posters on the thread and those of us she private messaged.

I'm wondering if the thread was pulled due to the investigation.

I noticed in a few articles that are out on the web that she wrote a book yet it was never made available to the public.

I'm thinking that is the same reason the thread was pulled.

I understand.

When I said:
It appears she was not treated very well here.

I was referring to the fact her posts to the thread about her personal story were deleted, the thread detailing her ordeal was pulled, and the member that posted her story was banned.

I am sure the reason she agreed to doing the story in the first place was to inform as many people as possible about her experience. Pulling the thread did not help her.
