And growing up all I heard was how most of the world was starving, and 3 in 5 kids in the US had nothing to eat... Should we consider the problem "Solved" ??

What I've always wondered about is if there is a component in here that has to do with lifestyle changes from agriculture to office work? Traditional rural food would seem to be geared to the active (hard working) lifestyle of a farmer and not the office worker.

The nonprofit group's report said federal obesity programs are not yet extensive enough...

It is morally, legally and ethically impossible to be an American and believe in "federal obesity programs." God damn all nanny state f!!*ks to hell, please!

I went to the Dr this morning and of course they have to weigh you everytime. The cute little nurse looked up and said 181. I told her you need to recheck that, I've been 175 for a cpl of years now. She took me to another scale and said "yep, 181".

Awwww crap. no more desserts for me /sigh

As someone who lost 90 pounds this year, I think we need to look again at the recommended calorie intake for adults. Most adults in non-physical jobs probably don't burn the amount they recommend, and the ones doing physical labor burn more. If I ate as much as they tell me to, I would pick up 30 of that back in no time.

And it should be made very clear that exercising 30 minutes every other day doesn't mean you can eat like most Americans eat. You are going to help your heart and lungs doing that, but the amount of calories burned just isn't that much more.

Anyway, if I can keep it off, Indiana is going to have one less obese person next year.

I'm not fat or big-boned. I just retain a lot of beer.

I'm not fat. (I could use about 10 pounds.) Why is EVERYONE else FAT? Maybe they EAT too much. Then again, how does logic address this issue of being FAT/OBEAST (sic)?
