GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Two Wal-Mart employees were shot to death Tuesday in the parking lot of one of the retail stores in suburban Phoenix.
The shootings occurred in the middle of the parking lot, at least 50 yards from the store entrance. A body could be seen in one of the corrals used for collecting shopping carts.
Police spokesman Mike Pena said authorities were searching for the gunman. He said there were several witnesses to the shootings but would not identify them.
Delia Garcia, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman on the scene, said she did not know whether the victims were working at the time of the shooting. She said the store would be closed indefinitely.
"This is an extremely tragic situation. It has been confirmed that we have lost two of our associates," company spokeswoman Sharon Weber said from Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.
Some of the store's 450 employees could be seen leaving the business Tuesday evening. The company was working to get help for other employees upset by the shootings, Garcia said.
Police cordoned off much of the parking lot, telling anyone whose car was within a perimeter that they would have to leave their vehicles there.
Authorities initially said a third victim had been wounded, but Pena later said that was not the case.
Glendale is about eight miles northwest of downtown Phoenix.

I find that so uncomfortable from FReepers.........but apparently the WalMart hatred overshadows the fact that 2 people, who were doing nothing other than their job, are now dead.
Of course, in the minds of the Walmart haters, people that work there are about less than useless anyway so I shouldn't have been surprised by such lack of compassion shown here.
May they rest in peace and the perp be punished appropriately....it will not bring their loved ones back, but may it give the families a bit of peace.
No doubt someone was pissed their ICE had melted.....just a guess of course !
Wally World IDPA Invitational's are popping up all over the country.....Stay safe !
Amen, my FRiend.
I hesitated pinging you - but then decided it was you, of anyone, who should be pinged.
I will have a very different attitude on the WM bashing threads in the future.............
Yes, the corporate culture has changed. That's one of the reasons Mrs. HJ left their employ.
Yes they do, with the help of your purchases. Think about it.
Thanks
What is it with people? Because it's WalMart no one cares that 2 people are dead? for no apparent reason???????
The utter crassness of people on this thread has left a seriously bad taste in my mouth about a lot of people.
"BTW: Wal-Mart sucks. Target rules."
Target doesn't sell shotgun shells, last time I checked.
I get my shells at a nice little shop down in Federal Way. Better selection than the Wally Worlds I've been to.
Then again.. maybe ammos isnt the best topic for this thread.
I remember going to a Home Depot near where my parents live in South Florida. Despite being located in a very affluent area, this Home Depot had a shooting but two hours after I went there to get some caulk.
This is a tragedy, and my condolences for the families.
That's better than my home state of New York. Concealed carry permits are handed out at the county level, but are generally not recognized outside of that county, unless said county has reciprocity.
Well yes, I think everyone cares. But what would you like us to do? 6 people were shot not far from me tonight, I care about that too. But what do you suggest we do?
There were many witnesses, two of them followed the car and got the license number. The police traced the owner to a retirement community, they sent a robot to th door and the man, name Henry?Liu answered the door with his hands up. He was 53 years old,he was arrested and taken to headquarters.
According to the police,he has been polite, did not know the young men and did not shop at Walmart. No more information was available.
There must be a lot of broken hearted family members and friends in Glendale tonight,I am going to go pray for them all.
'Course you do. If you didn't, we'd figure you were new to Wyoming.
Relook my profile. I now reside in the Bluegrass. Raised in the Cowboy state.
