Earle lends passion to Iraq war protest near Bush's ranch - Steve Earle sings for peace advocates and soldiers' relatives near Crawford

COUNTRY MUSIC CRAWFORD, Texas – When Steve Earle got his invitation to perform at the Camp Casey protest outside President Bush's Crawford residence the singer-songwriter asked organizers to think twice about their choice.

"I think this is the beginning of a mainstream movement against the war in Iraq, so I wanted them to consider who I am and the kind of lightning rod I can be," said Mr. Earle, who has a history of activism against the death penalty and who caused a stir in 2002 with the song "John Walker's Blues," which he wrote about captured American Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. "I didn't want to be more trouble than I'm worth."

Who is Steve Earle?

He would be the worst performer, ever! My hubby & I had tickets to see Jackson Browne/Keb Mo play Red Rocks last year and this loser (in his 'F' Bush t-shirt) opened. He played on&on&on&on&on&on&on & each song was crappier then the previous one. THEN the power went out & we never got to see Keb Mo or J. Browne. Very disappointing evening!

Maybe Earle isn't with the program. Cindy "Impeachment Tour" Sheehan is only pretending that she wants to meet with Bush. Her real agenda is treason. Earle will fit right in.

It seems Martin Sheen STILL believes he really is the president.

I still enjoy his acting skills, but my enjoyment of his talents has been mitigated greatly by his hysterically liberal and socialistic views. Why would someone who has done so well in such a great country dislike his nation so much? Why is he so very angry?

And Steve Earle? He's an idiot.

Damn, I liked that song, him sounding like some squirrelly Appalachian hick talkin' about his 'stash' ... him being a butthead Socialist weenie with Mao-stle red star on his shirt kind of ruins it for me...

They'll use their "all or nothing" screams to tell us how "obviously" the Patriot Act did nothing to stop whatever tragedy (ignoring those attacks that have already been prevented, including one on the Brooklyn Bridge).

They will also claim that the terrorists struck on American soil BECAUSE of the President's "imperialism".

Then will come the "Bush knew" Rovian conspiracy theories.

"I think this is the beginning of a mainstream movement against the war in Iraq,

Not unless you call Michael Moore, George Soros and MoveOn.org mainstream.

"...but organizers say they are bringing in other voices in her absence."

Maybe Jane fired up her bus.

Someone pass me one of those tin-foil hats...who could those voices be?

She's learned well from her handlers.

Michael Moore only pretended to want to meet with "Roger". He was offered opportunities to do so during the making of that film but he was not permitted to bring his cameras.

It makes for a much better film to stand outside the office with a bullhorn making smartass remarks.

The goal post has been moved. The protesters outside of Crawford are now claiming it is a vigil until Bush pulls out the troops. They have already surrendered.

Never was about talking one on one. She met with him last year.

The Iraq war is not Viet Nam in no way, shape or form, this time the anti-war protesters are going to eat crow. Mark my words.

Same here.
I have a hard time reconciling Springsteen, Mellencamp and some others, too.

I was listening to Laura Ingraham this morning. She said that PBS played a documentary by the host of Pacifica's Democracy Now, Amy Goodman. She then aired a clip of audio from one of the mothers complaining that we shouldn't be in Iraq.... that Iraqis were not the terrorists behind the 9/11 attacks, the Spanish bombings, or the London bombings.

She should open her eyes and realize that the terrorists we fight in Iraq are not Iraqis. She's been had by the Left.

We can fight them in America, Bali, London, Spain, or Iraq. Packing up and going home doesn't mean that the terrorists will just "go away".

He also seems to think pretty highly of himself and thinks everybody else does too.
