Talk-show host fired
World Net Daily ^ | August 21, 2005 | Joseph Farah

WASHINGTON – Michael Graham, the Washington, D.C., talk-show host suspended for linking Islam and terrorism, has been fired by ABC Radio following weeks of pressure applied by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a group with its own well-documented connections to terrorism.

Graham was the popular mid-morning host on WMAL in the nation's capital until three weeks ago when CAIR demanded he be punished for his on-air statements about Islam. After initially backing the host, WMAL suspended him without pay July 28.

"CAIR immediately announced that my punishment was insufficient and demanded I be fired," Graham said in a statement to WND. "ABC Radio and 630 WMAL have now complied. I have now been fired for making the specific comments CAIR deemed 'offensive,' and for refusing to retract those statements in a management-mandated, on-air apology. ABC Radio further demanded that I agree to perform what they described as 'additional outreach efforts' to those people or groups who felt offended. I refused. And for that refusal, I have been fired."

What is it we don't understand about the evil of an existing tenet in Islam religion that promotes jihad against nonbelievers!

The terror connection is there when a tenet that teaches as a basic practice jihad against nonbelievers and is promoted and encouraged by Islamic religious leaders.

CAIR now knows that it can threaten and intimidate any infidel radio station that its wants to shut down. They have essentially ended free speech in America............

This is not a "free speech" issue. The radio station can do what it wants with it's property. The talk show host was an employee. And, you might note, he still has maintained his "free speech" rights. We can read his "speech" in the above link. Like the rest of us, he has the right to free speech but he has no right to be heard (quoting Rush Limbaugh).

The radio station did what it did at their own peril. While they have the right to kiss up to a scumbag outfit like CAIR they have absolutely no right to continued income from their business operations. None at all. And hopefully they will lose major money over this as people see what they have done and stop listening to them.

Hopefully this is a good thing for Michael Graham. He sure as heck now has had natonal attention over this. More people know who he is than ever before and in his business that's a good thing. I bet this Graham guy gets hired by another station where he can spew all the truth he wants. But if he is hired by another station the thing applies. He's an employee and is only allowed to say what they let him say.

CAIR, like many other bogus groups of it's ilk hiding behind US laws, should be taken out to the dumpster and disposed of.

I don't read Freerepublic everyday....and when I get on, I don't search specific subjects, nor would I know what to look for if it had been posted days before....SO, if something is posted twice, it makes it better for me...

If you look at FR 24/7, that is good..so you might see 100 of all articles posted...but some of us don't get to read it everyday.....

The hell with emailing the radio station. Lets start a real campain to contact our Senators and Congressmen and demand an investigation of CAIR. If enough of us pound on them, it may get something started.

Appeasement isn't that A.N.S.W.E.R. The bizarre thing here is this is one group of fanatics appeasing another group of fanatics.

What causes fanaticism and why it is dangerous.

The fanatic has an elitist view of himself. He holds a firm belief that he is "special" and has something that others, not like him, do not and that this unique "something" imparts an unquestionable and unassailable power to himself. Because of this basic self-view any disagreement with the elitist or any resistance to his actions causes anger. This "supreme" view of himself is an excuse for justifying his anger and thus justifying any act from deception to murder against those who disagree or refuse to comply with him. He is comfortable with hatred, revenge, lying or any gross deception in defense of his "superior" position and will act out against those who do resist or refuse to validate his view.

It is impossible to reason or negotiate with someone who holds the POV that they are morally and/or ethically superior by virtue of the belief that they are inherently so. Everything you do to accomodate his "concerns" (demands), short of complete capitulation, will be discounted due to your "inherent" inferiority. Any resistance to him, anything other than complete submission, becomes self-evident proof of his superiority. The elitist's POV presupposes the rationale of rightness and righteousness as inherent to himself by virtue of his personal belief not as a measure of the qualities of his actions or the resulting consequences. His belief that he is superior may hang on an ideology or philosophy but regardless of whether the doctrine supports his view or not he is simply never wrong about himself. Of course the opposite is true for non-elites in the fanatic's mindset. You can never be right if you're not one of the "righteous" simply because you are not. More precisely; you are not "him."

It should be obvious why a fanatic is dangerous. Any and all negative and evil acts can be justified on the basis of any disassociation with his self-view and the "inherent authority" he carries with that. The intent and motivations of an outsider are irrelevant no matter how positive. The results of an outsider's actions are irrelevant no matter how accomodating or constructive. The non-elites are always wrong because they don't hold or submit to the fanatic's view.

The world is full of fanatics of every kind and they can base their elitist self-view on any pretext. Some belong to large groups of "like-minded" fanatics and some are individuals who cling to the delusion that they alone are "special."

In today's world the United States in particular, and western civilization in general, is under a concerted assault from two separate groups of fanatic elitists. Fundamentalist Muslims and leftists. The Islamo-nazis and the Marxists. Both leftists and Islamo-fascists hold a firm belief that they have something that rednecks and infidels don't have that carries a special authority with it. For leftists it is "intellect" and "social sophistication" and for Islamo-nazis it's a "call from Allah," a "holy annointing."

Both groups are manifestations of a mass psychological disorder resulting in fanatic elitism. Both are extremely unstable and are unfounded upon and unaffected by reasoned logic. Convinced of their own "inherent" superiority they will both press their respective agendas as far as they can without regard for the consequences to themselves or to others. In both cases the blame for all of their actions will "logically" fall on the shoulders of others, the "outsiders." Negative consequences of their actions simply become another tool for self-vindication.

The fanatic elitist's mindset is like the mindset of a rabid dog. Nothing and no one that exists has any meaning other than being a validation of their power or a threat to it. Nothing can have any other meaning; their POV is, by design, set from the outset and purposely unchangeable by external influence of any kind. Change can only occur from within and this means a change in the "prime directive," the core premise of their relation to the world. Change requires the abdication of their most basic point of reference, their self-view, the view that they are unique in a superior, inherent and authoritarian way. This is a view that reasonable people must either completely reject or ultimately submit to. Those are the only choices the fanatic will leave to "the others."

When did Michael Graham ask everyone to stop writing and calling. I am among those who wrote (got no response), but I never saw a request for us to stop.

Things are way out of kilter when you get fired for telling the truth and management won't back you up. I just don't understand why freedom of speech doesn't apply to everyone. Maybe CAIR can explain that.

It's here:

"THANK YOU....NOW PLEASE STOP!!!! On behalf of my friends who work hard at 630 WMAL every day, I'm asking all of you who've expressed your support for me to do me a HUGE personal favor: Please stop. The volume of calls and emails is hurting the ability of some very good people to do their jobs, and trust me--your message has been received....please stop contacting 630 WMAL. Please. I'm begging you." --- Michael Graham

Nuts. Well, I would think that is exactly what we want to do. Shut down WMAL as much as possible. Clog their phone and mail lines. Contact their advertisers and ask them to switch to 570 or 1160 AM, etc.

I'm sure that CAIR would be most willing to come on WMAL and publicly repudiate in no uncertain terms the Islamic terrorists and all of those who support the terrorists and their objectives. Sure they would.

Yeah, but at that time, things were looking up after the initial barrage, and I sure that his buddy Bloomquist, who's the program director (and apparently is also getting fired), had asked him to call off the dogs until things blowed over.

Unfortunately, things did not blow over, and ABC Radio gave him a stark choice last week, retract and do outreach to terrorists work, or hit the road. To Michael's credit, he's sticking to his guns. I hope that he get's a lucrative syndication deal out of this whole fiasco, and that WMAL goes down in flames for ABC Radio's appeasement.

You don't have to read FR 24/7 to check to see if a thread has been started. If it has, rather than starting another, just bump the old one.

I just sent WMAL the following email:
Thank you for 30 wonderful and entertaining years! I have been a loyal WMAL listener since the mid-70's, and started with Harden & Weaver (when they played music!), then later Trumbull & Core.

After learning that Michael Graham has been fired, I can no longer listen to your station in good conscience. If an organization like CAIR can successfully pressure a radio station to silence a host who dares to criticize, then I cannot support that station any longer.

I am truly saddened by this turn of events, and will make it my obligation to let your advertising clients know my feelings as well.
