I am an independent and have become uneasy about what is happening in Iraq. The constitutional crises now going on is pitting the various factions against each other. What bothers me the most, however, is the fact that Iraq is on it's way to becoming a country ruled by islamofacists. I realize this was not our goal, but the reality is our policy there has created a situation that does exactly the opposite of what we wanted.
How does this benefit the US?
It will if they remain friendly to us.
CORRECTION: "...see them AS useful allies."
Those afraid to ask the hard questions are the true Kool Aid Drinkers.
Thorlock says his source is the lame stream media.
Anyone who takes the lame stream media at face value hook line and sinker drinks Kool Aid.
They'd also buy a bridge..
Thank you, I think.

When told that the media lies, he had this to say:
"The troops throughout history are po'd with the media. That doesn't mean that the media always gets it wrong."

Sure the media lies. Doesn't mean everything they say is a lie. Unless I go to Iraq and see for myself, they are all I have to make an opinion. Except forums like this, which is why I came here and posed the question.
Why does this question bother you so much that you feel the need to attack? It's a valid and troubling question.
Seminar poster. TROLL ALERT!
During war, where, when and with whom you discuss the "hard questions" determines which side you're standing on - whether you like it or not. Do you think maybe we should have this discussion with those from an al-Jazeera forum?
Can you point me to a resource that refutes their misguided notion. Seems to me that all outlets reporting on Iraq recognize that sharia law will be embedded in the Constitution.
"Doesn't mean everything they say is a lie."
Killian Memos.
Fake but accurate.
Dan Rather said so.
No, the media lies, doesn't report the entire story, misrepresents things, over exaggerates things, and omits important information.
In short, the media lies.
The troops have been saying that things aren't as bad as the media is saying.
Even with Shiites being elected.
If you have lurked for a while you would of discovered that this is not unusual. I've been called a Communist, Liberal and a Nazi in the same thread! You should of provided a source for your questions before you asked them. Welcome to the FR.
It's not debate we want...just validation of our views.
Thank you. I'm glad there are still a few rational people left in the world.
Thanks.
We've been watching the 'Foyle's War', a BBC dramatic series set in WWII. One of the first episodes dealt with rounding up German citizens residing in England and other issues regarding enemy alien status levels.
That's one bibliography I'd love to see. LOL
How will an Islamic rule in Iraq benefit the US?
I'll answer it...It won't.

It's called Democracy. Look it up. The people of Iraq get to choice their own form of Govt. I know that pisses off you pro Saddam/Hate Bush types. Too bad.
