YES, EVOLUTION STILL HAS UNANSWERED QUESTIONS; THAT'S HOW SCIENCE IS
WSJ ^ | June 3, 2005 | Sharon Begley

Compared with fields like genetics and neuroscience and cosmology, botany comes up a bit short in the charisma department. But when scientists announced last week that they had figured out how plants grow, one had to take note, not only because of the cleverness required to crack a puzzle that dates to 1885, but because of what it says about controversy and certainty in science -- and about the evolution debate.

In 1885, scientists discovered a plant-growth hormone and called it auxin. Ever since, its mechanism of action had been a black box, with scientists divided into warring camps about precisely how the hormone works. Then last week, in a study in Nature, biologist Mark Estelle of Indiana University, Bloomington, and colleagues reported that auxin links up with a plant protein called TIR1, and together the pair binds to a third protein that silences growth-promoting genes. The auxin acts like a homing beacon for enzymes that munch on the silencer. Result: The enzymes devour the silencer, allowing growth genes to turn on.

Yet biology classes don't mention the Auxin Wars. Again and again, impressionable young people are told that auxin promotes plant growth, when the reality is more complex and there has been raging controversy over how it does so.

Which brings us to evolution. Advocates of teaching creationism (or its twin, intelligent design) have adopted the slogan, "Teach the controversy." That sounds eminently sensible. But it is disingenuous. For as the auxin saga shows, virtually no area of science is free of doubt or debate or gaps in understanding.

Go back and read your Bible through faith in Him. Your interpretations are all faithless.

I missed your reference. Not my interpretations, some creationist website has the depictions of men riding dinosaurs.

WildTurkey said: "Wbere do they hide these lists of miracles?"

I am by no means an expert in this matter. I don't know if the details get published for them after the Vatican completes its research.

The mechanism is typically that people pray to the person after they have died and their prayers are answered in a miraculous fashion. Many probably deal with "incurable" diseases suddenly evidencing a cure.

Some more recent saints, I think, reported having had miraculous visions and investigations found no reason to doubt the validity of the claim.

Miracles happen daily and in many cases in close proximity to each of us. Every breath of life in a newborn babe is a miracle, every separation of soul from body is a miracle, every baptism of the Holy Spirit is a miracle, and many very personal miracles occur daily around us. Many of us are so scarred in our thinking that we place ourselves first and arrogantly refuse to recognize their existence. Some of us, even thinking we are faithful, are so scarred in our thinking that when such miracles happen, we nonchalently attribute them to others.

If one remains faithful and continues to study His Word after receiving the regenerated spirit, one can continue to be sanctified. Where those miracles are intended for our observation, they will become obvious and for those continuing in sanctification, a discernment is also developed so as not to attribute false things to the divine.

I guess you could consider the Church's acceptance of evolution a miracle but I don't think they will give JP saint hood for that one.

The one I remember is calling the fall of the Soviet Union a miracle and giving JP credit for it.

Then they should give all of us sainthood.

That's called pencil-whipping. It was RR, not JP. JP was a master at keeping the church out of politics.

I have faith that the coffee spewed out your nose rather than praying through your nose. ;^)

Well, I think it is pretty poor that all these miracles are happening and the Church is keeping them secret.

Actually Dimi some of that really applies to the majority of the evo-crusader gang of goons here, the 'best of the best' I call them, and that is the following.

Now this is about integrity, and your ability to honestly answer questions, and then not run off like the coward you accuse others of. I care little about your evaluation of me.
Your personal evaluations carry as much weight as your 'contributions' to your evo crusade. And that is LIGHT WEIGHT!!

The logic behind what I remember reading is that JP's promotion of the church in Communist Poland got the snowball that resulted in the fall of the Soviet Union rolling.

The Holy Spirit bequethes that sainthood as one person to those of faith or for those covered by the Son who are not yet developed in their souls to understand the call for faith.

The Bodily life in the flesh, is generally what science and medicine observe. The soul or thinking person is breathed by the Father into the body upon physical birth at His will. Not all perfect physical babes are born alive in the soul. A second form of life occurs at childbirth. A third form of life is given by God upon faith in Him. That is a regenerated spirit life, available today to all men and women.

the evo-crusader gang of goons

Is there a leather jacket with a logo on the back? What are the gang hand signs?

Inquiring minds want to know.

"And being omniscient and omnipotent, he knew that he had made imperfect beings and said *Screw it*. If humans are fallible it is God's fault, he made us that way. Knowing that many would not make it and would be sent to hell. Hardly a compassionate and loving God."

Man was made in the image and likeness of God. That was acknowledged by Jesus in more than one way. Looks like you don't know what you're talking about.

Sounds like an argument that pre-birth abortion is ok.

Ok, that totally went over my head.

I think their Afgnanistan war and the inability to keep up with our technology along with a decaying communistic economy were the prime drivers. RR saw this and kept up the pressure.

I've seen some sound doctrinal positions that condone that action depending on the situation.

Conversely, there are also sound doctrinal arguments to not interfere with things God is working.

IMHO, as a general rule of thumb, abortion generally isn't an appropriate solution to perceived problems with childbirth.

Like the portrait of God in the Garden of Eden?

I agree with you. Remember you were asking what miracles were being attributed to JP? This is one I remember reading might be called a miracle and might be so attributed.

I don't think it was a miracle either. Just an example of the kind of thing called a miracle these days.
