Big bang near Crocker Galleria in SF, Post St. closed down, smell of gunpowder.

San Francisco fire captain Pete Howes told KCBS a man hole cover in front of the Ralph Lauren store at the corner of Post and Kearny appeared to have exploded,

Manhole covers don’t generally explode.

I would speculate that something under the manhole cover exploded.

Underground Explosion occurred in vicinity of Kearney and Post St,, Banana Republic and Schwab offices in area evacuated,, manhole cover was blown out of its hole.

No injuries or fires reported at this time.
