One Person Injured in Downtown San Francisco Explosion
Source: kcbs
Publication date: 2005-08-19
(KCBS) - An explosion shook office buildings near Post and Kearny streets in downtown San Francisco shortly before ten o'clock Friday morning.
San Francisco fire captain Pete Howes told KCBS a man hole cover in front of the Ralph Lauren store at the corner of Post and Kearny appeared to have exploded, although the exact cause of the blast is under investigation.
"We found the front of the Crocker Galleria on that corner had been singed," Howes said. "We've locked the area down."
One person has been taken to the hospital, said Howes, although the extent of the person's injuries was not known.
"I heard this enormous bang," said Dave Kavedaris, who works downtown. "It shook our building. There's an enormous amount of debris out into the street."
Thousands of people were evacuated from office buildings a half block in either direction, said KCBS reporter Tim Ryan at the scene.
The explosion appeared to come from outside the Crocker Galleria.

Blown-up Manhole!!!!!! No surprise there.
Tommy Hilfiger seen running from the store.
Yeah, we watched that. Huge mushroom cloud explosions every few minutes and the MSM didn't pay any attention.
Nails too long and trying to watch and type:
The force of the explosion has pushed the street level up as far as 12" in one area. Sorry!
They are rounding all the usual suspects: Christian Dior; Bill Blass; et al.
Will give more info when becomes available....
LMAO
Where was Tommy Hilfiger at the time of the blast?
Sounds like a gas leak -- probably an old gas line gave way and something sparked it.
I wonder if this is from a natural gas leak?

Thanks for the specific update. Glad to know it was an accident and not an attack.
Shows you the world we are living in. Prior to 9-11, one would always think it was an accident, and a terrorist attack possibility wasn't even in the top ten things people thought about. Now the FIRST possibility people think about is that it's possibly an attack.
Interesting. Had manhole explosions/fires in Boston last week...
See Post 125.
You are bad...yes indeed you are. ROTFLMAO
Who farted?
What's the difference?
Where did you get this update?
A woman engulfed in flames?
