MOUND VALLEY, Kan. -- A Bengal tiger attacked and killed a teenage girl Thursday at a southeast Kansas animal sanctuary.
Haley Hilderbrand, 17, of Altamont, Kan., was posing with the tiger for her senior high school pictures at the Lost Creek Animal Sanctuary.
A news release from the Labette County Sheriff's Office said the big cat was being restrained by its handler, but it attacked the teenager, anyway.
The 7-year-old tiger was killed.

Now that made me chuckle!
Kill all tigers and pitbulls, and dobermans too... and rotweilers...
Precisely when I arrived.
COINCIDENCE??????????????????????????????????
Remember that next time some teenage girl is riding you and you turn and shoot her... :^D
Wild animals belong in the wild.
"That being said, I and my children are not playing with any large carnivores."
Ya see, now I actually think THAT was pretty funny... : )
do you mean with a gun or....... forget it!
Like the one where business dad and his long-haired son are arguing in the morning before Dad leaves on a business trip, and as dad is walking out the door, he says to his son, "And why don't you get that hair cut!"
The whole "gallow's humor to deal with traumatic events" applies to people-firemen, police, combat vets, and many others-who have to use humor to deal with the horrific things they witnessed/dealt with/cleaned up. It has absolutely nothing to do with people who come no closer to dealing with a horrific event than reading about it in the papers or on their computer screens. That's not to see people don't have a right to try to find humor in a situation that does not affect them personally in any way whatsoever...but the 'gallow's humor' excuse does not apply to them, because they don't need to "deal with" something that never affected them at all.
;-)
Yep, time to repopulate the high plains with elephants, tigers, lions, and wildebeast.
laz, check mail
I want to play with the tiger's friends. LOL
"Pet" Psych 101?
Probably already mentioned, but it seems strange this story comes a day after the story about wanting to get "wild animals to roam the US plains... lions, tigers, bears..." Plus there is another story today about a woman trampled to death by a bison.
Hey what goes around comes around.
Then the cat was struck with a brilliant idea!
"I'll have fries with this!", he purred.
And the salt was licked.
