Barry Bonds had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in January. He's still out.
Gives a man time to think, a long leave of absence like that. About his life. About his career. About whether it makes sense to come back at all.
Crazy talk? Well, sure, but tell me what about Barry's recent behavior has been particularly bright.

THAT'S assuming his stopping taking them allows the 39 year-old Bonds to function better than the washed-up Sosa and hard-working, yet diminished Giambi.
He should just retire....it's obvious to anyone that he cheated and breaking Aaron's record would be an insult. I'll give him credit for being a legit 500 homer and 500 steal guy and for being an OBP machine who refused to swing at bad pitches but no way was he the nest HR hitter of all time.
If he is taking steroids then the healing process can be affected.
Steroid use can cause excessive bleeding even after they are stopped.
Aw, hell -- I'm just feeling lucky today.
Many have said Bonds will not return to the game until his knee is healthy and he's sure that he can't test positive for 'roids. Either takes time.
I had to LOL when I heard Felipe Alou still has to get his updates from reporters or Bonds's blog. Barry's still a real piece o' work.
Players on the DL are still subject to random drug and steroids testing, and if I'm not mistaken Bonds had to submit a sample this year.
baseball is better off without the likes of "barroid" bonds...good riddance
Yo:
I am from Pittsburgh originally, and have followed Barry Bonds' career relatively closely from a statistical and public pronouncements standpoint. His stats are beyond incredible and astounding!
If I could say one thing it would be:
Hey, give Barry some space!
You have to give him props regarding his move to San Francisco.
At that time it was relatively normal for a guy to have a great year at the end of his contract. It is said they are showing what they can do.
Well, Barry took the money (no one can fault him for that), and promptly had consistent tremendous seasons year in and year out. No flops. No years off. He was the man year in and year out.
Give him the props.
I don't know any of the details about when he came in contact with creams and clear, but apparently BEFORE he did...he was consistently excellent anyway.
If I were in his shoes, TRUST is the main thing with every person he has contact with. If his trust is greatest with his wife...so be it. If his trust is greatest with this doctor...so be it. It is his life, his knee, his career...don't fault him for calling his shots.
We live in America with freedom and liberty. Thank God Curt Flood broke the hold teams had on men back then.
Let Barry walk in his freedom...it is HIS! He will live with the consequences.
Finally, Hank Aaron had different pressures. Barry has different pressures. You cannot compare them!
It must be incredibly difficult being Barry. This is a jaded world will live in. It very difficult to maintain trustworthy relationships at all, let alone living under the microscope that is professional sports.
I find it amazing that someone in his position can continue to flash that incredible million dollar smile, and I give him props for being able to still do that at 41 as well!
We don't own him. We don't have rights to him. No one does!
I am thankful for Barry Bonds, for the gifts God has given him to do what he does. He has been an inspiration to me going way back to Pittsburgh.
Allow Barry the freedom to be Barry!
He WAS taking roids, and knows he has to stay out long enough for that to clear his system or his middle name will be Palmaro...
I think it's unlikely he will ever play left field for the Giants again. I wouldn't be surprised to see him agree to a trade to an American League team, probably the Angels - he's a SoCal native, where he can be the DH for several more years.
I saw pictures of Barry on TV the other day. He's looking skinnier - his head definitely isn't as puffy. The roids must be wearing off.
Yup--they're bogus! Bonds is a nasty, selfish racist. His stats are phony. He just about sums up all that's wrong with baseball today.
Yeah, and the 'roids just enhanced God's gifts.
Steroids don't make people bigger, they merely allow people to work out longer without getting tired (and help to break down/build up muscle cells or something like that). If Barry is "skinnier," it is probably because he isn't working out as often or as long, which may be (as you imply) because he used to take steroids and is not doing so anymore, but may also be because his injured knee doesn't allow him to go through his normal (read: extremely intense)workout regimen.
What is a prop?
We don't know when the cream and clear started.
You have to give him props for consistency BEFORE, whenever that was.
How many guys inked big contracts and then took their three of the four years off?
Not Barry!
How many knee operations does it take to fully cleanse steroids from a person's system?
Take your anger and hatred somewhere else!
