A 17-year-old has died after explosives he appears to have been trying to make in his Oslo flat detonated. The blast blew out some windows in the block and left the victim's 19-year-old brother injured. Three other friends escaped unhurt.
Norwegian police said internet instructions on how to make explosives and some powder were found at the flat.
Police are questioning those present but are not reported to think they had links to any extremist groups.
Other apartments in the three-storey block were evacuated after the blast.
"At the scene we found written instructions on how to make explosives and some powder that the youngsters had mixed," Inspector Vidar Hjulstad told Norwegian public radio NRK.
The powder has been sent for analysis.

I was in Torsby Sweden in July of 2001. I spoke at the Kjellberg family reunion picnic on the 4th of July. I spoke of our Independence, Constitution and why we wre the light of the world. LOL! I managed(very very easy) to collect ammonium nitrate by sun-drying the liquid in a used instant cold-compress pack. Never succeeded in getting it to explode though, even after using gasoline, black powder and other stuff with it. Requires electrical detonation, I guess, but ultimately gave the whole thing up for fear of safety.

Yeah Ben, that MOM was from yesterday, but was so good he replayed it today. Made me water up both times I heard it. I had a son in the Marines for 5 years, but he was out before 911. I can only imagine what these families go through. Must be many sleepless nights for them. GOD BLESS THEM ALL!
