Debbie in Indianapolis, the Voice of America August 17, 2005
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: This is Debbie in Indianapolis, named after Indians, and it's the headquarters of the NCAA. Welcome to the program.
CALLER: Hey, Rush we come from a super mega dittos household. When my 13-year-old was born she said ditto before she could say mom.
RUSH: (Laughing.) I'm not surprised. The future of America.
CALLER: Absolutely. I'm a MOM, which stands for, "Mother of a Marine", and I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says, "Your son got an A in college; my son got a Purple Heart in Iraq." His vehicle ran over a land mine twice in one day. We always talk about "if" something would happen to my son, I would never dishonor him. I'm sorry. I'm getting emotional in this. I would never dishonor his actions by doing what this woman is doing. My son volunteered to join the Marines. When he was 18 years, one month, and ten days old on September 12th he announced that he was joining the Marines after he saw the Twin Towers fall. When his first orders to Iraq were canceled he told us that, "Bush better not pull out before I get there." He knew it was something that needed to be done. He's going back for his second tour next month. What she's doing is not only dishonoring her son, she's dishonoring mine. RUSH: Debbie, I can't thank you enough for calling, and I can't thank you enough for doing another thing. You have just spoken for the vast majority of Americans in your call. You have just echoed exactly what they think. God bless you. Thanks so much for your call.
CALLER: I hope so. Thank you.
RUSH: You have, trust me on this. You are far more a voice, a representative voice of the people of this country than any of the rabble rousing malcontents that are being given airtime in a failed attempt to destroy the policy by the mainstream press. Trust me.
CALLER: It hurts me that she's sending the message that it seems like her son died for nothing. He didn't die for nothing. He died in the United States Armed Forces. There's nothing more honorable than that. These kids volunteered. They were not yanked from their cradle by an evil government to send them someplace they didn't want to go. My son knew on September 12th he was going over. My son knew what was in store for him, and my son stepped up to the plate. The caller you had on Monday, he was talking about, "Gee, how come these senators' kids aren't volunteering if the war is so great?" We're not going to talk about if the war is so great, let's talk about these kids who are great who stepped up to the plate and said, "You know what, I need to do something about this. There's something bigger than me out there."
RUSH: Debbie, exactly right. Debbie, thank you again. You just heard it, Debbie in Indianapolis, the voice of this country.
END TRANSCRIPT
I don't understand your comment either, sam. This woman had me in tears as well. Her obvious love for her son and her country is what the call was about. It needed to be said and Rush gave her the opportunity to say it to the entire world. Good for him.
Here's the call.
Perhaps you should clarify this...
Yep, Excellent. This call should be heard around the country.
Please don't hit and run. I too would like to hear your objections.
OOPS! Sorry! I posted to the wrong person.
Please don't hit and run. I too would like to hear your objections.
I heard just the last part of her call but I'm so glad I had the chance to read its entirety here. It gave me goosebumps reading it as I recall the tone recall the tone of her voice during the call. Thank you, MOM!
"I was wishing that we all could tell Debbie how proud we are of not only her son, but also tell her what a great MOM she must be to have raised such a brave young man."
I just played the clip for my husband and he, too, had to wipe away tears. I'm going to go and email Rush right now and, I guess if enough of us email him, he might convey our wishes to Debbie on air tomorrow.
THANK YOU for posting the audio!
Whoa, Post #2 . You either couldnt't sleep our you were waiting to pounce........
His show has been awesome this week. Sorry I mised that call, but I had one of those endless meetings today. Zzzzzzz!
Between this call and Rush's speech (for lack of a better word; I'm tired) yesterday explaining to the libs who the REAL Americans are, it's a week that needs to go down in broadcast history. Now, if he can get Dr. Walter Williams to sub for him by Friday my life will be complete, LOL!
That dopey Sheehan woman can't possibly realize what a patsy she's been, and how many people she's made sit up and listen...to the other side!
Ah, well. Sometimes someone serving as a VERY BAD EXAMPLE benefits us all greatly in the long run. ;)
(Thanks, UncleDave!)
This wonderful mother's faith in her son, in his service and in our country will never make the MSM the way Ms Anti-American Sheehan does.
Rush has been great all week. Perhaps Sheehan has done us all a favor - she's reminded us to be ever vigilant against the MSM and the Anti-American crowd, for they will once again, as Kerry & his VVAW did, stoop to using the dead to further their agenda.
God Bless this MOM and the wonderful, brave men and women who serve their country.
Good idea! I think I'll join you! :o)
he's just a Rush basher who pounced at post #2. he has no legitimate argument other than he doesn't like Rush.
FWIW, I heard the program today and I teared up as well.......After that i don't care to deal with the jerks like him......
I agree, her compassion and sincerety will never make old media shows. I happened to have the day off today and was listening to Rush, glad I did, for this call alone. Too bad the old media will ignore a mother like this, and instead lionize that democrat activist Cindy, who is capitalizing on her "grievance". What a shame. Old media is sicker than I could possibly immagine that they would priase Cindy and ignore this MOM.
Thanks for the link to the sound clip. Someone ought to take this down to Crawford and play it on a mega loud speaker.
I caught this segment of the show today and felt better about the USA as a result.
Hannity copied Boortz before he was big enough to copy Rush.
