Elementary schools shouldn't be teaching homosexuality
The Denver Post ^ | August 17, 2005 | Al Kinght

Posted on 08/17/2005 1:16:17 PM PDT by Albion Wilde

The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) has been busy for 10 years ... creating gay student groups at hundreds of high schools and passing laws or regulations that limit or eliminate harassment aimed at homosexuals....The organization has also used part of its $4.3 million budget to promote a reading list for students as young as those in kindergarten....

At the high school level, some of this indoctrination might be excused on the grounds that students are old enough to make personal choices and maybe some of them can define terms like "sexuality" and "gender."

No such excuse can be made for this kind of social indoctrination at the elementary level.

The very idea that GLSEN and other groups are busy offering "educational resources" or training programs to elementary school teachers in order to create a more "affirming environment" for gay students is appalling....

"home-schooled students should be taught only by people who are "licensed" by the state and use a curriculum approved by the state "

Over my dead body.

Interesting here in my state, you are required to homeschool 6 hours per day unless you are a certified teacher. If you are a state certified teacher, you are required to teach only 3 hours.

Is that 3 hours of promoting homosexuality???

"I have wondered how many long term teachers out there are tired of this propoganda. Im sure many are against it, but with it being there livelyhood, many feel like they dont have a choice. But life is a series of choices, isnt it...."

I agree. It's a problem for some families. But things can turn around. Who would have thought the last election would go the way it did over gay marriage. Suddenly, when enough people are willing to stand up and question, there can be a significant push-back. Meantime, your kids are benefiting so much from your sacrifices. Good on you!

Exactly! One of the statistics I read from the CDC several years ago claimed that the average life-span of a gay male was something like 42 years. While AIDS was obviously a large part of the reason, there are several other health issues related to this behavior, including Colon Cancer and a host of other diseases transmitted through this region.

If this were any other behavior-related health issue, the governemnt would be irresponsible to not include the risks associated with it. Heck, just look at the warning labels on everything in our lives today, from food to recreation. Ironically, they tacitly admit these dangers with their safe-sex and condom distribution programs.

Unfortunately, they just can't bring themselves to get into the nasty little details. And they can't do this because the Gay lobby is so powerful that they have been able to brow-beat educators from discussing the adverse effects of this lifestyle. This is not only irresponsible, it's perhaps criminal...especially since we're dealing with impressionable children.

Hmm...I think I smell a lawsuit in the air for the deliberate misrepresentation of this "Gay" lifestyle:)

I wouldn't take my kids to any concerts where excessive profanity could be heard (depending on their ages), but I'm not sure I would be too concerned about "devil worship". I don't really think there are any bands out there promoting devil worship. Those who might are either doing so as parody, or are so bad that nobody would want to see them anyway.

I wonder if GLSEN's money for homosexual ed, can be cut off via federal regulation.

IOW can the federal government prohibit states from funding GLSEN's sex ed classes.

I agree with you. It is like there was a line in the sand and they crossed it with this latest slate of shenanigans. It is no longer about acceptance.

Gays have become a militant, well oiled, well funded machine.

They have declared war on family values.

"It is the parents responsibility to find out first hand WHAT your children are being taught. You will be surprised - unpleasantly so. ...Be involved! "

Thanks so much, Hombre_Sincero, for showing just how utterly Leftist the NEA has become. By the way, NEA came out early with a resolution to back Kerry in the last election -- no big surprise there -- and they actively denied the Parents and Friends of EX-Gays organization from presenting material at their last convention. They just don't want to hear that homosexualty can't be proved to be inborn.

I think to dress or sing about satanic ideology although they may not practice as such is still a promotion. Example Marilyn Manson

I have found otherwise. Fortunately, my daughter seems disinterested in it. What bothers me is that some kids are glued to MTV without roles models instilling positive values

And there lies your difference... When it comes to morality and choosing between right and wrong you have a rule book to follow... Strict or not, it's structured and children at their most vulnerable ages with regards to "pop culture" are guided in a way they can develope into productive members of our society... The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) has their own book they follow when it comes to educating our young children in a manner they see fit........ PAGE #1

We, as conservatives, need to get the Federal government out of our local classrooms, not farther in. Federally, we need to insist on strict constructionists on the Supreme Court, to start reining in the ultra-libs lower down in the system.

We need to insist that Congress REMOVE FEDERAL FUNDING from the ACLU. It has outlived its usefulness.

And locally, we need to be the voices that are heard at school board meetings. This year, the father of a gay boy insisted on pushing gay-ed in the classrooms of Montgomery County, MD (just outside of DC and bluer than blue). Fortunately, the curriculum they wrote was so egregiously bigoted, including naming which Christian churches were bigoted about homosexuality and which weren't (such as Episcopal) that even the judge had to declare it discriminatory!

A group of parents tried to have the curriculum committee include information from ex-gays, which the pro-gay faction barred from consideration. This spurred the traditionalist parents to sue, and as noted above, the judge had to agree. It was a particular victory because the area is so extremely liberal; evidently some things just go over the line.

It's a christian private school and it is in the rule book. If they discover a child is homosexual they will be kicked out of the school. The rules in this school are very strict. My kids aren't even allowed to attend rock concerts according to school rules.

Well. Hm. Good for you, I guess - if that's how you want your kids raised, that's your thing. That's what private schools are for.

They are studying 500BC to 500ad with study of the onset of Islam.

You need to raise hell with your school board.

BTW, Islam was invented (no typo here) at least 100 years AFTER 500A.D. Those teachers need to get their facts straight first.

One constant theme that I keep seeing is that the educational establishment seems uninterested in teaching actual school subjects that had been taught for years, and more interested in peripheral stuff like this.

And I have to wonder where on earth this stuff is taking place. Because it sure isn't being taught in any elementary school *I* have direct or secondhand knowledge of. They have all they can handle to cover your basic grade-school curriculum.

I think you mean "System of a Down".

It should be "Syndrome of a Down".

They are merely purveyors of leftist hate-speech.

That's why they are in private school. One school here in Hawaii even has one week dedicated to Gay Day. This is a high school in Kaneohe. My children are young Republicans. They both choose that ideology. They're well traveled and have seen communism first hand. They know how fortuate they are to live in a free democratic society. We are a military family and christian and proud Americans. That's the kind of leadership I hope to instill in my children. God, Family, and Country!

No driving need to have sex education at that level, and maybe not at any level, except as an adjunct of health education.
