What Capt Powell said...
Well sir, I'd tell you, if I got my news from the newspapers I'd be pretty depressed as well. Powell said that he knows the media have a hard time getting out in Iraq and seeing the improvements, but that he's "satisfied" and "proud" of the work the United States is doing in Iraq. What Capt Powell wanted to say...Well sir if I got my news from Network TV I'd be pretty depressed as well. Powell said that he knows the media have a hard time getting out in Iraq and seeing the improvements, but that he's "satisfied" and "proud" of the work the United States is doing in Iraq.

LAUER: Don't get me wrong, I think you're probably telling the truth
What a snotty little ass.

Sound as though he is taking a cue from Rummy. That's the way to put it!

Rush is discussing this item, and in teasing it even made use of my line about Lauer committing the lawyer's mistake of asking a witness a question to which he doesn't know the answer!!

I watched for about a half an hour today...it was 95% negative...the Matt Lauer news and his fellow reporters all had bad reports...No water..no electricity..no AC in the 130 heat..school children had to wait in line...it sounded terrible...this was all in Bagdad...they never went to the rest of the country...there was no explanation as to why...it was the standard terrible liberal dribble..treasonous...what is so wrong about giving the other side...what????

The Captain should have said: "I can see how a lot of people have low morale because of the MSM and your show. However if you guys would be honest with the public, I'm sure morale would rise with the people at home and over here."

Don't be so hard on Matt. His wife's ditched him, and his hair plugs aren't even.
Poor guy.

It seems to me that Lauer is incapable of understanding how someone might be happy even though they are engaged in a very difficult job. He probably thinks the morale of firemen is very low when they are fighting a particularly stubborn fire on a hot day. He probably thinks the morale of football players is very low when they get tackled by a 300 pound nose guard. He probably thinks the morale of police officers is very low when they run down and arrest a violent criminal. He is a typical limousine liberal with no clue about what motivates real America.

These guys are going to keep getting slapped in the face until they finally wake up. The media knows that the troops are really popular with the American people and they are coming home and telling the truth. They've now gotten to the point where they recognize just how much of a danger the media is to them, their work, and the country and they are now saying to their face what they only grumbled about behind their backs.
Either the media starts to fix this thing or they are going to be fighting more than the disrespect of the American people, they are going to be facing outright RAGE!
