Did you hear the news? Evolution is no longer a theory. Its a fact! I know, I cant believe it either. Wait, you havent heard about this breakthrough discovery? Well, you might want to check with Professor Colin Purrington, an evolutionary biologist who teaches at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Professor Purrington says, Evolution is a theory like gravity is a theory.

wow. I've never seen macro-evolution change from one species to another. this is big news.
To: PApatriot1
Evolution is a theory like gravity is a theory.Really.
If that's the case, we should just be able to demonstrate it in a controlled experiment, like we can with gravity.

I view the theory of evolution as simply being man's way of describing and attempting to predict the behavior of part of God's creation. The same as the theory of gravity.
I really don't understand the loggerheads over the belief in Divine Creation and the Theory of Evolution.

Well, since gravity sucks, does evolution as well?

The professor is correct. There are facts that can be tested and observations made to confirm the hypothesis.

The excerpt does not give the true spirit of the full article--it comes down in favor of teaching intelligent design alongside the theory of evolution. It's worth reading it all.

If that's the case, we should just be able to demonstrate it in a controlled experiment, like we can with gravity. It's done all the time with fast reproducing critters. It's possible with larger creatures too, as long as you've got a few thousand years to wait.
Didn't you know that?

Very interesting. My pastor says the Bible is fact.

"If that's the case, we should just be able to demonstrate it in a controlled experiment, like we can with gravity."
Correct, and scientists have demonstrated genetic change within a population (evolution) millions of times.

Soooooooooooooooooo Impressive.
I realized a lot of those fossilized old farts were old.
I didn't REALIZE that they were THAT OLD! Old as dirt! Around from the beginning. THEY WERE THERE! THEY KNOW! LOL.

Mr. Flickinger is a conservative columnist from Pittsburgh, PA, who graduated from Ohio University Scripps School of Journalism with specializations in political science and economics. Mr. Flicker says that evolution doesn't happen. Well he's a journalist, so I guess he knows everything.

Genetic change within a population is not the same as one species becoming a different species.

Genetic change within a population is not the same as one species becoming a different species. Oh. So we can go about changing your DNA all day long and you'll still be you?

In a way I agree. I makes no difference to me what method God used. However, what we have learned over the last few decades, and the last 15 years in particular, in the fields of microbiology, quantum physics, and astrophysics has just crushed random chance (evolution) as a viable theory. The hard science doesn't support it and the math doesn't support it.
This biologist is just desperately trying to hang on to his "religion". He might as well declare that it is a "fact" that the earth is flat.

Genetic change within a population is not the same as one species becoming a different species. No, but a ring species is an example of one species becoming another, right now, while we are watching.
