There's no such thing as an "innocent" Pali. When a man has deprived of his home, had his synagogue burned down and his dead relatives dug up, he has good reason to open fire.. Are you serious?

Arabs who risked their lives to shelter Jews from the First Hebron Massacre.

There were Germans who risked their lives to shelter Jews from the Holocaust but what does that have to do with ZAKA?

I heard a caller (who identified himself as Jewish)to Michael Savage on Monday state that Sharon made a deal with leftists in Israel inorder to keep his son out of jail or to not be charged with some crime or other. And that this forcing the settlers out of Gaza was part of the deal. Savage indicated he had heard of this but did not elaborate.

Do you know anything about this?

I would hate to think that they are being displaced for such a reason.

If I'm not mistaken, they are honored by Israel as the "righteous gentiles", correct?

I expected no less from ZAKA. They are providing, once again, a demonstration of how fundamentally good people transcend race, religion, nationality et al.

The point, I suppose, is that there are Muslims like that as well, despite the claims by some (not you) that they are all fundamentally subhuman animals.

Update on Shilo Shooting
18:25 Aug 17, '05 / 12 Av 5765

(IsraelNN.com) The facts of the shooting incident are a bit clearer now. Apparently, the shooter takes the Arabs to and from work every day. They were in his car after the day’s work and he stopped at the guard hutch as he does every day to get their ID cards on leaving the industrial area. When he returned to the car, he pulled out his own gun and shot at the Arabs in his car without any warning or apparent reason. Leaving them there next to the guard hutch, he apparently returned by foot to the industrial area and shot another Arab worker in the factory.

There are three dead and two injured who were taken to the hospital by the Shilo ambulance.

Reports of his threatening the guard in order to take his gun are incorrect. The man had his own gun in his possession. He is not known to be extremist in his views and the reason for the attack is not known yet.

Police, army and local community security forces are wary of possible violent Arab reactions to the shooting. Precautions are being taken to safeguard the residents of the Jewish communities.

Somehow I don't think that President Bush, who has advocated this since he took office, cares if Omri Sharon stays out of jail.

If this was a Muslim, we'd be suspecting he was a sleeper of some sort.

This really has a "man bites dog" qualitity to it.

Think of how many more Israelis have been killed by Koranimals, and how we are almost inured to it.

A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist. Islamic, Jewish, Christian, communist, or whatever.

Very true. How do you know, however, that the word "terrorism" applies in this case? How is it different from "going postal," as many have done in this country?

Beliefs do not make terrorists, and terrorists do not define beliefs. Where on earth did you get this idea?

Terrorism is (i) an act of violence or threat thereof, (ii) inflicted on possibly very few with the purpose of instilling fear in the general population (iii) for the sake of achieving political objectives.

Like many, "terrorist" has come to signify for you a "bad person." Terrorists kill but very few that kill are terrorists.

"Sharon basically said to these people, tough cookies, start over." Sounds suspiciously like "Let them eat cake" and you know what happened after that.

Great point........like the Palestinians needed justification for the hundreds of pointless killings in the past.

So, it could be criminal, or it could be terrorist. It doesn't sound like an accident.

Not known as an "extremist" and is in daily contact with Arabs. What triggered him? Possibly he overheard them discussing what they would do to the Jews given the opportunity- Arabs are feeling pretty giddy these days- and so he made sure they never have that opportunity.

If you're a Jew, maybe he saved you or someone you love today. Even if you're not a Jew. Don't you wish someone had taken care of Atta when he was still just fantasizing in Germany?

That's because we have a right vs. wrong culture (generally.) Arab culture is us vs. them. When one of us take on the us vs. them mentality it shocks us and we wonder where that came from. I think we hope that our culture overtakes theirs, and not the other way around.

Given the constant barrage of terror Israelis have endured for decades, I am amazed there are not more events like this. Heck, I think more cab drivers are murdered in NYC every year than Arabs murdered by Israelis.

The Jerusalem Post does not hesitate to use the words "Jewish terrorism" (though it may not be appropriate here because the facts are not yet clear), but for western European papers and those in the US, it is not PC to use the term for Palestinian or other middle-eastern terrorists who routinely target Jewish and other civilians in the Middle-east and elsewhere.

That has as much to do with the victims as it does the terrorists. Even BBC referred to the London bombers as terrorists, briefly.
