The Heart of Texas Chapter is planning a return to Crawford on Saturday, August 27. Our purpose this time will be to team up with the Move America Forward Caravan, which will originate in California, and pick up supporters from across the country. More can be found about Move America Forward here:MAF
We hope that with this much advance notice, more Freepers will be able to join us this time.
I have spent most of the day trying to contact someone at MAF, but they are so busy they haven't gotten back to me yet. However, it shouldn't be hard to notice a caravan of buses and cars in Crawford, so we will be able to jump in with them with no problem.
I spoke with Police Chief Donnie today, and he really seemed happy to hear that we were coming back. We won't need a permit this time, as we will be a tag on to the MAF permit.
Everyone with suggestions for signs, tactics, etc. please chime in. This will be another Support the Troops Rally--but MAF will probably get in a little Sheehan bashing--which is fine with me!
Ditto, DrDeb.
I have relatives in Texas but I don't think I can make it at this time.
Bummer.
Hope the good guys have a great showing.
Good idea. I've already emailed a bunch from Dallas. Their trip is shorter than ours so they have no excuses!
I'm not sure any of the Houston (HAT) FReepers went last weekend. Guys, do you know anyone who went? Flyer, you comin' along?? (I know Xenalyte is working and Allegra is gone.)
Sure looks like it to me....
I think I was the first to suggest that we get some troops from Ft. Hood to come...so I take the blame for making a suggestion that was meant well...
but, I admit I didn't think it through, or I would KNOW, that they couldn't just go to a political protest like that.
Sorry, Humidston, I don't want YOU to get flamed for suggesting it...I wish though, that some troops that might be "off duty" that weekend, could stroll down in their jeans and boots, just to say HI!---and let us thank them in person.
And, in case you didn't see (although I've posted more than twice about it...Cindy lied about last Saturday.)
And obvious lies like this one and re-posted at the front page of the DUmp just tick me off, no end!

(snip)
By the way, we had about 7 counter protesters today and hundreds at Camp Casey...don't let the mainstream media say differently.

Eaker, humblegunner, Humidston. . . maybe me.
Who else?
Not I - I have rehearsal in Plantersville all of Saturday.

>They can't take "sides" or be political.
How is it that this guy was able to attend on behalf of the Sheehan side then? Was what he was doing illegal?
He was in full uniform, although the AP listed him as a "former" Marine. His "high and tight" is fresh though. Was he just posing for the cameras?Wearing his Marine fatigues, former Marine corporal Mike McNeil, of Ft. Worth, looks at a name on one of the crosses lining the side of the road leading to President Bush's ranch near Crawford, Texas, Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. McNeil, who served in the first Gulf War, says he plans to read each name on the crosses for the soldiers killed in Iraq to show support for their families. (AP Photo/LM Otero)
...It wouldn't be the same without you there, buddy.
(Now... Did that make you feel guilty enough? :)
WE CAN'T CAMP HERE LIKE HIPPIES...
WE WORK FOR A LIVING.

Looks like a good one to me!
How about PetroniDE? I'm also going to see if I can't round up some of my friends as well as some of those military moms who went last weekend.
Thanks!
A couple did at the last rally. It was good to see them and talk to them.
ping for upcoming FReep at Crawford....they are lookin for bodies, money or support of any kind.........even just a bttt!
Why do I have this feeling Cindy will have moved to another phase and be somewhere else before the 27th?
Me, I've lived here much of my life and it's a great state in many ways, especially since Kennedy is never here, and when he is he's on his island of lost souls. I have little problem finding fellow conservatives here and love the landscape, weather, arts.

Ewww, I somehow missed this post before. Txsleuth, some day I want to meet you in person. There are thousands and thousands of people who post on FR, but you have always stood out to me. I've just never told you that.
Thanks for taking the hit for me. It just reinforces my opinion!
