Crawford, Texas is always a center of world attention when President Bush is vacationing at his ranch. But this week, it's an even bigger focus, largley because of the protests of Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier who was killed in Iraq.
When News 8 talked to Sheehan in Dallas last week, she had been on the road for a year protesting the war, traveling from one forum to another.
She outlined her irritation at President Bush and the war in Iraq at the Veterans for Peace Conference.
The soft spoken 48-year-old wears a bracelet in honor of her son Casey, who was killed in Baghdad just five days after he was stationed there 16 months ago.
"I don't want one more mother to feel the way I feelIraqi or American," Sheehan told News 8. "And I'm going to Crawford, and I want him to give me these answers."
For the past week, she's been in Crawford, camped outside the President's ranch. She demanded a meeting, and the whole world is watching.
Hundreds of supporters have joined her in her quest. One of them was Dr. Barbara Portia, the mother of a U.S. soldier.
"There were no weapons of mass destruction, no imminent threat, and no connection to 9/11," Dr. Portia told other protesters.
On Saturday, war supporters came to Crawford and took up a position on the other side of the road. They carried flags and signs that read, "God bless the soldiers that sacrifice for our country."
"Not every parent of an injured or killed soldier believes that President Bush is wrong," said Mike Gallagher, a radio talk host and suppporter of the war in Iraq. "In fact, I daresay most parents support the war in Iraq, support the Commander in Chief, support the war on terror and support the effort to rid the world of terrorists, wherever they are on the planet. God bless President Bush for having the courage and the fortitude to do what he's doing."
Sheehan's attempts to gain an audience with Bush have not been successful. Now, her supporters have paid for a TV ad running on stations near Crawford. In it, she has a message for the president.
"You lied to us," Sheehan says in the ad, looking directly into the camera. "And because of your lies, my son died."
Cindy Sheehan said she will camp out at Crawford until the president's vacation ends at the end of the monthor until he meets with her.
Do take note of the bus and her bracelet
What good is it to have laws to protect citizens against terror and have soldiers do their jobs if we have wack jobs like this?
There is the law, then there is what culture, judges and what not want. The US citizen employing the government is thus screwed and must be employed by these pseudocultural thugs with their own government or personal wishes employing us through the government.
Thus goes government anarchy supporting this sedition and not the law for obvious reasons.
Talk about evil. Not this sh!t again is an understatement.
What an evil woman.
Using her dead son who reenlisted on his own. Supporting the enemy.
Miss sheehan, you are a shameful being.
She has already met with the President.
She now says she is not interested in meeting with the President.
It's all about her now. (and the money she can make dishonoring her son)
Having said that, I'm underwhelmed by the small size of the crowd she's drawn. I guess war protesters can't stand the heat, literally. Also, the longer Sheehan is in the limelight, the harder it will be for the MSM to completely ignore her anti-Israel comments--anyone needing proof of the media bias need only look at how this "tiny" detail is omitted from the laudatory articles about her. And they can only cover her so many times without the reader/viewer realizing how unhinged and self-centered she is.
Yep .. that is exactly what they are trying to do
And yes, by making her the center of the anti-war movement we are learning more about her
It's one thing to be against the war
It's a totally different thing to be involved with a group like Code Pink ... who sent money to the ingurents in Iraq
The same ingurents that killed her son
She's truly a piece of work, but the MSM are certainly not going to investigate Code Pink, not when they have Karl Rove to kick around.
I was just thinking how for the longest time--literally, decades--I thought the talk of the MSM being ultra-liberal was an overreaction. (I was a liberal two decades ago.) But now it's just so blatant you'd have to be blind not to see it, or in severe denial so you can pretend to be "a moderate".
Oh really Cindy. Well you lied to us , about your previous visit with president Bush where you made no mention of his supposed rudeness, you lied about your sons reenlistment, about his Bronze star, and:
How many soldiers- other mother's sons- whom you claim to be so concerned about, have died , or will die, because of you, and your colleagues encouraging terrorists to attack them?
How many guns were the insurgents able to buy with the money that your Code Pink associates sent to them? How many of them were used to kill our soldiers, and maybe even your own son?
Grrrrrrrrrr........don't you just love where she refers to Iraqi mothers- a subtle implication that our soldiers are killing innocent people on purpose.
Keep it up Hysteric Left. The more you talk, the more the people come to hate you for the evil scum you are.
That is the part that ticks me off the most
bttt
Please include BARF ALERT when posting articles of this type. Thank you!
I have NO SYMPATHY for a mother who would advocate supporting terrorists who attack our troops, none. That's where I draw the line.
I totally agree .. She lost all credibility when she teamed up with that group
We only get to hear formulated statements and coddling interviews of Cindy Sheehan. Get her on camera live, unedited and let people see for themselves how utterly lost and in need of professional help this woman is.
It's also hard to accept that a mother would dishonor her fallen son as much as Sheehan has. At first I thought she was being used, but, after reading her statements, she knows what she's doing, and doesn't care that she's encouraging enemies to attack our troops.
I need to take a break from this, it's really getting on my nerves.
They won't. This is their way of getting back at President Bush for spending time at his ranch. They have to have reporters there and they don't like Crawford in August. This way they can ignore Able Danger by bringing us this important news.
