9/11 Probers Reject Claims on Lead Hijacker
Investigators for the Sept. 11 commission have found no evidence to support allegations by a House Republican that lead hijacker Mohamed Atta was identified by a classified Pentagon program before the 2001 attacks, according to a commission statement issued last night.
Commission leaders Thomas H. Kean (R) and Lee H. Hamilton (D) said in the joint statement that panel staff members have found no documents or other witnesses to back up claims made by a U.S. Navy officer, who told the commission staff in July 2004 that he recalled seeing Atta's name and photograph on a chart prepared by another officer. Panel officials also said they have found no evidence to support similar claims made to reporters by a second person, a former defense intelligence official.
"None of the documents turned over to the commission mention Mohamed Atta or any of the other future hijackers," the commission statement said. "Nor do any of the staff notes on documents reviewed in the [Defense Department] reading room indicate that Mohamed Atta or any of the other future hijackers were mentioned in any of those documents."
The statement marks the latest development in several days of public skirmishing between the commission and Rep. Curt Weldon (R-Pa.), who accused the panel of ignoring allegations that Atta and other hijackers had been identified by Pentagon analysts before the Sept. 11 attacks but that the information had not been shared with other agencies.
..."the commission staff concluded that the officer's account was not sufficiently reliable to warrant revision of the report or further investigation."
The Able Danger program is also not mentioned in the final report because "the operation itself did not turn out to be historically significant," the statement said.

We're supposed to believe this after they spent a week lying about the meetings?
The 9-11 staffer who was given the information about Able Danger and Atta was Philip Zelikow. According to the 9-11 Commission Report (page xiii), he was the Executive Director of the Commission staffers. In other words, it sounds like he was the head staffer. Curt Weldon up on FOX in a couple of minutes.
The Washington Compost, which owns NewsWeak, which lied about the Korans being flushed down the toilets, is entering its all out lying mode to protect the Clintoons in this mess.
The NY Slimes and other lying left wing print organizations will raise the same BS. Then, they will be joined this Sunday by the Screaming Heads on ABCNNBCBS.
The lying left wing mediots have to deny these reports and try to make them look right wing spin. If the Clintoons go down on this mess, so do they.
You think maybe Jamie's staff had a paper shredder?

Information about Philip Zelikow.
But who's counting...:^)

They are accusing this U S Navy officer of lying before the committe----what did they do about it?!!!
Suggestion to the 9/11 panel: HARAKIRI.
Note that this is the "no evidence of that" meme that begins with the Washington ComPost, which has already been picked up as a "news item" by CNN, which is trumpeting the meme on an hourly basis.
Tomorrow (Sunday), the meme will be regurgitated by the usual talking heads on ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN (and maybe even FOX too, by the token liberals like Juan Williams, et al), and by Monday, the New York Slimes and the LA Rhymes will stick their fingers down their throats in journalistic bulimia, puke everything back up, and announce that a "consensus" appears to be "emerging" that the Able Danger issue was "no issue at all".
They desperately want to bury this one. More so even than Newsweak wanted to bury the Monica story.
LYING GLOBALIST TRAITORS.
GRRRR.
Watching Weldon now. This is explosive. I wonder if he is scheduled for any of the shows tomorrow.
The MSM is going to have its heavy guns out saying "nothing to see here, move on".
What are the undeniable facts with this whole Able Danger affair? Help me out here:
1) Was there an Able Danger program? Apparently, yes.
2) When did their data mining produce Atta's name as a potential terrorist?
3) Did their mining produce any of the other 9/11 hijackers' names?
4) How many names did the mining produce in total? I'm just wondering if it spewed out thousands of names and was ignored because of that.
5) When did the AB staff try to notify the FBI or CIA or other agency (pre-9/11)?
6) Post 9/11, when did Able Danger become public knowledge?
7) What sort of presentation was made by the AB staff to the 9/11 staff? Was it just one guy saying he saw Atta's name on a presentation pre-9/11?
I guess I want to know more about the issue before condemning the 9/11 Commission. I want there to be some real meat to this issue.
Mike
Johnny - did you hear Weldon say that he has 11 people who are willing to go under oath about Able Danger and that there are 15 boxes of information that the 9/11 Commission never looked at with regard to Able Danger?
He wants to bring the 9/11 Commission staffers to a hearing and have them testify under oath. (I think the entire Commission, not just staffers, should testify)
We also found sourcing the other day that Gorelick was in charge of culling through the information that came in and deciding whether the full commission would have access or not.
Whether she was involved in hearing about Able Danger, I don't know. She may not have wanted her fingerprints on it, knowing full well that they tried to tell the FBI in 1999 and again in 2000 about Atta and it is her Wall which prevented action.
Well, that settles it......move on.....
?....What's the price of 'pagan' gas today?
>> ... panel staff members have found no documents or
>> other witnesses to back up claims ..
> Did they make any effort at all to look?
To answer my own question, Weldon was just on FNC and
claimed that there were many boxes of info the 9/11
Commission failed to look at, and witnesses willing to
testify who were never called.
And it sounds like he's going to call for hearings.
So the Legacy Media spin of "no evidence" is merely
syntactically correct but fraudulent Clintonesque
weasel-wording.
I haven't seen it stated anywhere why this info is just now coming out. Does anyone know why Weldon didn't make this public months ago while the 9/11 commission was in session?

How is this related to the Able Danger story? The substance of that story is that the Pentagon had identified Atta as early as 1999, but was prohibited from sharing that information with the Justice Department. Let's not confuse the issues here.
