Actually it is neat to have this phony "sensitivity" exposed to the public. I am from Illinois, land of the Illini Indians. Not too far from me the Apache helicopter is manufactured and repaired. I think the Comanche helicopter was cancelled. They should rename the helicopter The Wuss in honor of the NCAA committee.

The vast majority of people I know have a profound respect for American Indians. I often teach members of various tribes in college classes.

I sure would like to read the answers to these questions but somehow feel the NCAA wont have the balls to respond. Good letter and deserves an answer. BTW, I am Indian and agree with the University. I see nothing wrong with using the Indian's names especially when they have the blessings of the named tribes.

According to the NCAA, the state can probably keep it's name, but OU and OSU will be very disappointed when the NCAA requires that the schools themselves be renamed.

According to the NCAA, no indigenous person can be offended, so the very name of the school must be changed.

I suggest The University of Great Football Teams and The "We're In A Boring Town State University."
