Both of you can bow to my "Firefly" and "Babylon 5," while you turn your phasers (set on "beeber," of course) on each other!

If there's a way to interpret anything like that, I'll find it. Everyone has talents. ;o)

B5, at least the first four seasons, is the best SF series of the last 40 years, easy, even edging out Star Trek TOS by a bit.

> What? No more COMDEX???
Yep. 2003 was the last one. 2004 got cancelled, and I
don't expect to see it return, nor even the return of
the computer mega-show. In the internet age, most of
the reason for having that tradeshow is gone. Having a
central physical location for vendor-client face time
and private-suite futures demos is nice, but can't
sustain the huge expense of exhibiting at the LVCC.
COMDEX was a contraction of COMputer Dealers Expo,
and the original point of that had vanished by the
mid'90s, by which time most of the small PC dealers
had been shoved aside by direct web sales, and
electronic chain stores.
COMDEX kept searching for a magnetic theme after that,
but never hit on anything with real resonance. The
combination of 9/11 and the dot.com bubble burst
triggered a rapid death spiral.
Someone yet buy the COMDEX name (CeBit?), but the days
of the uber geek PC show are likely over.

Hee! Although, if you think about it, certain aspects of anatomy COULD be firefly-sized...
Wait. It's too early for the pervert lobe of my brain to kick in...

You are not yet a true FReeper, m'friend, if you have not uncovered the secret of the beeber.

I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Original Star Trek, but Babylon 5 was great. I'm looking forward to the Serenity movie -- it may be the only movie I actually go to the theaters to see this year.

Yes, but have come to the conclusion that Firefly is better than both and puts BSG to shame

That's a shame. It was the best free computer goodie grab ever! The downside of COMDEX 96-98 was that you couldn't get a decent dial-up AOL connection in Vegas during the show. Of course, now I have shunned AOL for my cable modem, but that's beside the point! (Blasted Adult ADD!) :)

Is there any other group in the world that the tolerant and liberal press would write about with such condescension?
