IT'S starting to look as if the 9/11 Commission turned a blind eye to key questions that could embarrass one of its own members Clinton-era Justice Department honcho Jamie Gorelick.
This week brought the stunning revelation that elite military spies pinpointed Mohammed Atta and three other hijackers as a terror cell more than a year before 9/11 but were barred from alerting lawmen to try to lock them up.

When Gorelick took office in 1994, the CIA was reeling from the news that a Russian spy had been found in CIA ranks, and Congress was hungry for a quick fix. A month after Gorelick was sworn in, Bill Clinton issued Presidential Decision Directive 24. PDD 24 put intelligence gathering under the direct control of the presidents National Security Council, and ultimately the White House, through a four-level, top-down chain of command set up to govern (that is, stifle) intelligence sharing and cooperation between intelligence agencies. From the moment the directive was implemented, intelligence sharing became a bureaucratic nightmare that required negotiating a befuddling bureaucracy that stopped directly at the Presidents office.

Gorelick took Hubble's spot as de facto AG when he went to prison. Neither Reno or Bill Clinton controlled this position....it was controlled by none other than the beast itself. How do you know HRC controlled Gorelick? This would be important information if it could be verified.

No green card. Expired student visa.
I believe that is correct, jimbo.

Since Atta was not a US citizen I don't see how in the world they used the wall as an excuse.
And that's what it was, an excuse to do nothing. To take no action. To leave us vulnerable while certain extra curricular activities took precedence.
Wasn't there a book by Patterson regarding X42 being too busy at a golf match to give permission to launch an attack against OBL?

What we need to know is why.
And for that I say we need a special prosecutor. Now.

With grfiters, it's always about how it benefits them.
Any action either endangered campaign donations or took away from their time to play.
Protecting and defending the constitution was the last thing on their mind.

Many thanks- I copied and saved your information. About what I recall, and suspected from the most fraudulent administration in history.

BUT WAIT:
It gets worse. Gorelick's defenders might argue that hindsight is 20-20. But that excuse doesn't work in this case, because she was warned way back then when the see-no-evil wall was created.
That warning came right from the front line in the War on Terror from Manhattan U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White, who headed up key terror probes like the prosecutions for the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993.
White herself a Clinton appointee wrote directly to Reno that the wall was a big mistake.
"It is hard to be totally comfortable with instructions to the FBI prohibiting contact with the United States Attorney's Offices when such prohibitions are not legally required," White wrote on June 13, 1995.
"The most effective way to combat terrorism is with as few labels and walls as possible so that wherever permissible, the right and left hands are communicating."
That memo surfaced during the 9/11 hearings. But The Post has learned that White was so upset that she bitterly protested with another memo a scathing one after Reno and Gorelick refused to tear down the wall.
With eerie foresight, White warned that the Reno-Gorelick wall hindered law enforcement and could cost lives, according to sources familiar with the memo which is still secret.
The 9/11 Commission got that White memo, The Post was told but omitted any mention of it from its much-publicized report. Nor does the report include the transcript of its staff interview with White.

Oh MAN! This is getting really really really good.
To: mmercier
Why is it news now...?
Because we have additional information that the Defense Department knew that four of the hijackers were suspicious as early as 1999, but were forbidden from sharing this due to Defense and Department of Justice policy.

Remember how all the commission members made a big deal that the report would be unanimous? I guess the way to get everyone to sign off was to protect Gorelick.

Speaking of that...I think Ted Olson would be perfect for the job of Special Prosecutor in this case. Don't you?

Why were they barred from alerting local lawmen and why? Go to http://frontpagemag.org/articles/Printable.asp?ID=13516 and all will be clear.
