FAMILY OF FALLEN SOLDIER PLEADS: PLEASE STOP, CINDY! Thu Aug 11 2005 12:56:21 ET

The family of American soldier Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004, has broken its silence and spoken out against his mother Cindy Sheehan's anti-war vigil against George Bush held outside the president's Crawford, Texas ranch.

The following email was received by the DRUDGE REPORT from Casey's aunt and godmother:

Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish. Thanks Ð Cherie

In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

Developing..

Sheehan was anti-war, anti-President Bush long before her son was killed, she is using his death as an excuse to voice her opinions. I hope this letter is true and eventually she will be shown for exactly what she is, not a grieving mother but a far left radical. Let her continue to be used by the likes of code pinkos and Michael Moore, she fits right in

I can't hold my breath that long

But when she originally came out in support of President Bush, immediately after Casey's death, there had to be a thread on DU that insulted her stand. Don't you think?

She knows precisely what she is doing.

She may be unhinged, but she is not being used by anybody. She is doing this all by herself.

Same goes for the friend of hers (another mother that lost a son over there) that was on O'Gasbag the other night.

I wish the MSM would treat her like they do Republicans.

I do believe they are functionaly incapable of doing that.

I thought I heard her say on the news that she is a "family of one".

I didn't hear that, but from the looks of things, it looks like she is creating her own Manson family down there at her commune in Crawford!

They're all over today. It's hilarious how they show up when manufactured stories like Cindy begin to fall apart. They so want to belieeeeeve!

That is a brilliant observation. I think you are onto something there.

Hell, if there is any mom that would drive her son off to join the military it would be that nutcase.

By the way, I'm former Army. Airborne JAG!

I'm gonna play a little bit of devils advocate here (I still think this morning is a freaking lunatic though)

When I was serving in Somalia, after the "blackhawk down" incident, some of my family wrote letters to to clinton asking why I was there. I'm sure they would have been much more enraged had I been killed or wounded, G-d forbid. But I can imagine the parents/wifes of those killed in Somalia demanding an answer from the president on why their loved one was killed (clinton, in all his disgrace, never gave an answer and dodged the issue like the plague, heck he was probably glad soldiers were killed, that slimeball)

So, in theory--I can understand why a mother would want an explanation (truthfully, the administration has been a little behind the ball when explaining why/what/how we are doing there) But, this woman is simply a lunatic and deserves what will hopefully come to her.

G-d bless America

This woman offered to take her son to Canada - AWOL - to avoid his duty in Iraq. Her lack of patriotism or responsibility was well formed prior to his death.

What is truely Un-American is her dishonoring her son's service to his country.

Just another self-promoting nut-job!

Cindy Sheehan has climbed this ladder willingly. Michael Moore rallies--present. Downing Street Memo foolery--present. This is not about her exercising her grief, it is about her exclusive derision and blame of GWB for the chaos in the world that unfortunately takes the lives of some of our best.
I give her no sympathy, I despise the lib media who have attached themselves to her story like lapping suckerfish, and I regret that her caustic and self-absorbed actions are casting bad light on her family.

Here's the thread with the link to Drudge, Gary.

If you have more to say to me, please say it in public.

I have nothing to hide. Do you?

What I wish is that her husband would go to Crawford and confront those who have lead her down this path (right in front of the media so they could not gloss over it.)

I think O'Reily, Gretta or someone else on tv needs to get this family into the studio so they can plea for her to come home and get the help she needs.

I didn't hear Cindy say that .... but the women that O'Reilly had on last might said that

I'll go look for the thread

I feel sorry for her in that she lost her son. But, I don't think she's been led to this by being vulnerable in her grief. I think she welcomed the chance her son's death gave her to be in the limelight amongst her lefty friends.

You only have to look at Paul Wellstone's "memorial" to see that the left has no compunction about using the death of a loved one if it will help push their political agenda.

I have often seen the comments that soldiers that die are getting what they deserve and crap like that over at DU so nothing would suprise me.

I was wondering how her family would come down on the issue? Cindy is really doing her son a disfavor and has become a tool of the left.
