In Effect Until Oct. 31
GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- People traveling in Southern Oregon should know about a series of immediate and temporary public closures of roads and trails. The U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management cite safety reasons for the recent closures in the Siskiyou National Forest. They will be in effect until Oct. 31 unless rescinded sooner by the forest service and BLM.
The agencies are taking action after repeated road blocks in the area of the Hobson timber sale.
On Monday, a protester blocked a road leading into the logging site. A makeshift platform was suspended above the road causing the logging crews and equipment to maneuver around the structure.

Oregon has lagged behind in employment and these nutjobs don't care. Protests and lawsuits in the Biscuit fire led to a great diminishment in value in the salvage logging. These ELF people and their ilk are truly domestic terrorists.

It's a good thing my uncle is retired from driving log trucks. He and his crew mates had creative but probably illegal ways of dealing with the tree huggers.
He might have been tempted to start the legs of the platform on fire or take a saw to them....

Oh - as a trail rider that would really burn me up. I am a frequent visitor to our state forest trails.
In my memory, public access to our (WA) logging roads and trails has been threatened by vandalism at trailheads, mobile meth production, garbage dumping, fire risk, teenage parties, and now ELF nuts.
There are many idiots that make public access a dangerous gamble. I pray they don't take my trails away.

They just need to make it legal to run the protesters over. That'll get them to move quick.

We had one of those tripods blocking a logging road a few years back. They cut the legs a little at a time in round robin until it was shortened to the point they could grab the protester out of it destroy it.

My understanding is that the Cave Junction area is under enviro control. Also hear that there is another fire being allowed to burn in that area - the Blossom Fire. Evidently there is a media blackout on this....

I'm familiar with the road through Cave Junction. Passed through so many times on my way over to Brookings!!! Can't we take a forest flailer through there and clean out the Envirus??? I believe in healthy forests, free of any envirus!!!
