Aug. 9, 2005 | Cindy Sheehan, the angry 48-year-old mom from Vacaville, Calif., whose son died while serving in the Army in Iraq and who has been staging a lonely bring-the-troops-home vigil outside President Bush's ranch beneath the baking Texas sun, has clearly become a thorn in the president's vacationing side. Putting a public and empathetic face on the war's toll in America, Sheehan, whose son, Casey, was killed in April 2004, has posed a very simple request to Bush: Come out and talk to me about Iraq and why my son died. .........
Taking peculiar pleasure in trying to discredit the small-town mother, right-wingers have been in a tizzy over what they perceive as a flip-flop by Sheehan on Iraq. They excitedly reassure themselves that her alleged inconsistency about the war ought to disqualify her from being a legitimate war critic. Problem is, the oddly playful bloggers, busy mocking Sheehan as a "crazy," "exploited," "left-wing moonbat," aren't really staring down a lone mother who may or may not have shifted her opinion about Bush and the war since 2004.
.......Over the weekend conservatives at the Free Republic unearthed a June 25, 2004, article from Sheehan's hometown newspaper, the Reporter, which detailed Sheehan's visit with Bush at Fort Lewis near Seattle earlier that month. Portions of the article suggested Sheehan was grateful for her time with Bush, in contrast with her current complaints about him. Freepers then passed along the clip to Matt Drudge, who talked about it on his Sunday-night syndicated radio show. On Monday morning he hyped his analysis on his Web site, concluding that Sheehan "has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer!"

It would be perfectly fitting if this crone and a room full of fawning reporters were killed in an Islamic terror attack.
You damn skippy. I would like to see a little fighting walk about now.
"From what I understand she is not denying the validity of the charges, just shluffing it off as "being in shock" at the time of the first meeting with Bush."

The first explanation at the time of the meeting with the president is the one that rings true. Her family decided not to confront the president with her anti-war views out of respect for what their son would have wanted them to do.
Her son volunteered for service, and re-enlisted to go to Iraq. He was apparently in disagreement with her views, which it has been reported that she held before her son went to Iraq. She is right at home with the folks she is hanging out with now, it seems.
Now all she is is a traitor, re-enacting a stage-managed Vietnam-redux farce.
Thanks, she was my 'problem' teen. I've raised 3 fine daughters. The oldest enlisted, but was discharged with stress fractures during basic. She was so bummed for a couple months after that, but, has bounced back and is getting married this Saturday! Also, as a fun tangent..... We were able to get a bridesmaid dress for our soldier and according to the measurements she emailed us, all it will need is a hem. She doesn't know it yet, but she's going to be in the wedding! We've arranged with the bridal shop to have her dress altered, tomorrow, Thursday, 2 days before the wedding. Our first stop after picking her up fromt he airport is to the dress shop. The bridal shop is probably as excited about this as we are, and have said, whatever it takes to get her in the wedding, we'll do, and that means working late to finish her dress. There are plenty of people out there who support our troops and this war in their own special way. OK, more wet eyes.......
He was the same Gentleman that was on Mark Levin's radio last night
My heart just went out to him and his family as he was talking about his son and his service to our country
Mark asked him if anyone in the media has contacted him since the loss of his son and he said no ... No one in the Media but Mark (and now Sean) has given him the time of day
SHAME on the MSM for ignoring these families!
Double drat. We don't get Mark either.
Shame on them, all conservative talk show hosts should be contacting the Gold Star families and asking them to tell their stories. The new media has clout and should use it.
Please keep in mind that Cindy's son served bravely .. not only did he volunteer for service, he also reenlisted .. and was the first to volunteer to go out and help the other troops that were pinned down the day he was killed in Iraq
He rec'd a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart
Just because his mother is a fraud ... that doesn't mean her son is
So now we control Drudge too?
Cool!
Now if we could just get a handle on MSNBC...

And the first thing that popped into my mind when I read your post was the Jack Nicholson movie line "The Truth? You can't handle the truth!" The left has pretty much puts its collective fingers in its group ears and is chanting LA,la, la ,la Loudly on this one.
She lost her son and that gets her a lot of slack from me....but the people who are using her are beneath contempt.
Bet my Mom would say the same thing! Some of us "problem teens" realize a good thing like military service when we see it, and know deep down we need/want it.
Put the tissue down and pat yourself on the back. :)
"I have also prepared my boys to meet their Savior..."

That is the most important thing for any of us, because death is just as final whether it comes while fighting a war on foreign soil, in a car accident on our nation's highways, or from natural causes, etc. Thank God for mothers like you, Paula.
bump
I was a problem Teen and I have been walking the straight and narrow since I turned 18 and I woke up to realize that it wasn't the right way to go.
You did good in raising her, because she realized that their are better things to life then causing your parents grieve.
She now is a brave and proud young woman ,that makes her parents proud and I salute her for that.
Now won't that be a surprise for her.
No crying you'll smudge the print and then I can't read your posts.:)
God bless your daughter and all of our brave troops. Keeping them always in my heart and prayers.
Thank you..
that's our most important job as parents...
:)
That explains a lot!
Can't wait for the MSM to track him down and get his take on all this blather by ex Cindy.
They're such bloodhounds!
Just like when they found the 86 y.o. Mrs. Knox, TANG Col Killian's former secretary, to tell us that though the CBS found documents were forged, they expressed a valid sentiment of her dead boss.
