Cream Tuffs (Rita Cosby's new show starts tonight!)
NY Post ^ | August 8, 2005 | Michael Starr

Posted on 08/08/2005 3:37:52 AM PDT by LongsforReagan

RITA Cosby, the pugnacious, former Fox New Channel reporter, joins the club tonight.

Along with FNC's Greta Van Susteren and Headline News anchor Nancy Grace, Cosby will be initiated into a small, elite sorority of cable-news women who have - in just the last year or two - invented a new TV archtype.

They are the hard-nosed hosts of prime-time news shows - a generation younger than Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer, who have advanced to the top ranks through their charm as much as their intelligence.

No one would ever call this new group of female news anchors "charming."

Interesting to see if Rita can carry a show by herself. I see in the ads that they have sexed up her image. "Sandwiched' between Greta and Nancy Grace, it will be tough!

To see Starr even attempt to lump Rita Cosby in with Van Susteren and Grace is laughable. She is not in the same league by any stretch of the imagination, and that's exactly why Roger Ailes told her to go pound sand when she tried to demand a higher profile on FNC.

The "charm" might apply to Diane Sawyer but the word doesn't belong in the same sentence with Barbara Walters.

Now that this annoying ß1†¢¶ is gone maybe I can watch Fox News again.

I didn't even know she left until I saw the ad in Parade yesterday, Major airbrushing.

Oh I don't know.

Greta with her Popeye mouth and constant drone and Nancy with her bug eyes and a flair for the dramatics, I think Rita will fit right in.

All three don't do anything for me.

She was a bench player on the first place team and now she's starting for the team in last place.

I hope she got to take her "special sources" with her.

No matter, she could get together with Mansoor Ijaz and breed them.

Rita will certainly garner an audience of at least two people... but one of them is blind and the other deaf.

Hiring people Roger Ailes let go, is an admission that people who can not draw a big enough audience for Fox, can improve the ratings for MSNBC. That may be true but is the act of programmer that does not think that Fox can be beaten or even tied.

She should surely get at least half of his audience. With that in mind, I fugure she should have 4 people watching!

Cosby's breathy put-on voice is enough to make me puke.

Yes. And I hope she does. She definitely has a lot more broadcast experience than the other two. I've always rather liked her.

I always thought she was a good reporter. Filling an entire hour will be a different ballgame.

Interesting to see some of the vitriol on this thread. Is it because she isnt with FOX anymore?

I don't really have a problem with her either except I won't watch her stinkin' channel.

"Greta with her Popeye mouth and constant drone and Nancy with her bug eyes and a flair for the dramatics, I think Rita will fit right in."

You described them all to a T. Where are all the real news people that actually reported NEWS? The "news" these days consist of murders, missing people, anything tabloid, and that's about it. At times there is a smattering of real news about President Bush, London, and the Shuttle devoting half a minute to each.

I bet the national enquirer is upset the cable "news" station has upstaged them in reporting stories. Whats next alian's abducted Natalee?

Speaking of not on Fox anymore, what happened to Juliet Huddy? She's gone from Fox and Friends weekend.
