Al-Qaeda in Iraq Announces the Harvest in Baquba, Killing al-Ghadr Brigade Members, and Claims Responsibility for Assassinating a Spy in Dyali, and Destroying the Iraqi National Guard Barracks in Baquba

It's horrific law enforcement is being forced to converge on people in
groups for their own safety. Those impeding law officers should be
removed from the area by the most expedient method. If you can't
protect yourself in your own home, no one is going to do it for you
under catastrophic circumstances. Guns and bullets shouldn't only be
for those breaking the law with them. Self preservation demands us to
be prepared for the worst.<<<<<<<<<<
This is what Dr. Bill Wattenberg has tried for the last couple years to get people to understand the truth of what will happen.
He and other scientists, think that the millions of fleeing people from a disaster, are a larger danger than the disaster will bring.
Have the supplies, but also the guns, you will need them.
Your will find that many will have to band togather, in order to survive, one person will not be able to protect the home.
Better read up on the the old 'wagon train' battles, form a circle, so that you are able to fire in all directions, this will take groups of people.
Jon Caldera of 850KOA.com radio, asked the question "is it ok to loot? why is it ok?" Denver callers called and had a variety of opinions, but it hurt to hear the young liberal type voices, explain that 'the corporations' made too much money and it was ok to loot and get some of it back.
I think that you can still listen to his program on the computer, Gunny Bob once said that you could hear his for a 20 hour period, after his show.
Of course we would all loot food and water, but that is not what is being taken.
Thank you for all the fine reports and links you have posted today, you are an amazing worker and keep the thread "knowing" what we need to know.
I do notice, even when I am too lazy to post a thank you.
Thank you You guys always seem on top of everything I just catch a little bit. Great work from all of you.
Police officers were asking residents to give up any guns they had before they boarded buses and trucks because police desperately needed the firepower: Some officers who had been stranded on the roof of a motel said they were being shot at overnight.

This is from Velveeta's link in 3999, it explains the gas shortage, when combined with the New Orleans shut-downs.
I do wish that the President had not released the reserves, that is for emergencies, as in war or attacks.
Let the American on the street, go on rationing or walk, we have to have reserves.......
my opinion.

Twenty oil rigs missing in Gulf of Mexico -
Coast Guard
08.31.2005, 08:38 PM
WASHINGTON (AFX) - At least 20 oil rigs and platforms are missing
in the Gulf of Mexico and a ruptured gas pipeline is on fire after
Hurricane Katrina hit the region, Agence France-Presse reported,
citing a source from a US Coast Guard unit operating in the area.
'We have confirmed at least 20 rigs or platforms missing, either
sunk or adrift, and one confirmed fire where a rig was,' Petty
Officer Robert Reed told AFP.
The missing rigs were in the Gulf of Mexico, Reed said, citing Coast
Guard overflights of the area and information from oil c ompanies.
He could not confirm the location of the blaze but said it would
'eventually burn out' and no fire-fighting intervention was needed.
'We are of course working on the environmental side of things but
right now we are still concentrating on search-and-rescue missions
to save as many lives as possible on land,' said Reed, whose Coast
Guard unit has been evacuated from the flooded city of New
Orleans to Alexandria, Louisiana.
According to the latest tally Wednesday from the federal Minerals
Management Service, a total of 561 platforms and rigs have been
evacuated in the Gulf of Mexico, which accounts for a quarter of US
oil production.
Over 91 pct of normal daily crude oil production in the Gulf -- 1.5
mln barrels -- is now shut down, and more than 83 pct of natural
gas production, the MMS said.
Among the firms reporting missing rigs was Newfield Exploration
Company, which said an aerial survey of its operations in the
eastern Gulf showed that one of its platforms at Main Pass 138
'appears to have been lost in the storm.'
'As of this morning, boats and helicopters are mobilizing to better
access damages, identify any environmental impacts and begin the
repair process,' Newfield said in a statement.
Noble Corp said its semi-submersible rig Noble Jim Thompson,
which was contracted to a unit of Anglo-Dutch giant Shell, had
broken loose and was 17 miles adrift of its normal Gulf location.
Shell's Mars platform was said by analysts to have suffered
'extensive damage'.
'Some of our facilities have been damaged and production is halted
while we begin assessments and run checks,' Shell chief executive
Jeroen van der Veer said.
On shore, at least eight refineries have been shut down on the
coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi since Katrina roared ashore
early Monday just east of New Orleans.
Many other refineries are struggling to cope with shortfalls of crude
caused by the closure of major port terminals and pipelines from
evacuated and missing rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.
In response, the US government prepared Wednesday to open its
emergency oil reserves for the first time in a year to keep supplies
running to those refineries still operating.

News just in from MSNBC, NO Mayor has ordered 1500 police to stop
rescue and return to city to stop looting. UGH GRRRRRRR. I say lives
are more important now, let the thugs have it. They will probably
drown or die from sickness anyway.<<<<<
I see ....along the lines of a game we played as Kids, where you had to stay in a circle (LOL- I recall drawing the cirlcle, not the game........).
Draw a circle around the city and shoot any looters that attempt to leave.....when the disaster is over, they can be arrested.
LOL, sounds good to me.

There was also something about assassinating today? was it in Jeff's post?
When a person is placed under FEMA's auspices, are there no other choices? What is the difference between FEMA and Martial Law?
Gas shortages and panic buying in Up State SC. Lines longer than anything I remember from back in the 70's. Tempers seem to be under control but anger may flare if this continues through labor day. Prices went from $2.279 to $2.599.
WHAT!
The "hospital" seige isn't looting. The Hospital take-over is a terrorist act that should be dealth with swiftly and decisevly!
Looting is just stealing stuff . . . STUFF!, not to minimize looting, but, life is always more valuable than "stuff"! Prob'ly not a whole lot of things left to loot anyway.
This mayor needs shut down!!! Her decision making is PI$$ING me off!!!
They need Arnold in there!

Around the world, compassion -- and shock at the damage wrought by Katrina
VIENNA, Austria -- From papal prayers to telegrams from China, the world reacted with an outpouring of compassion Wednesday for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in messages tinged by shock that a disaster of this scale could occur in the United States.
Islamic extremists rejoiced in America's misfortune, giving the storm a military rank and declaring in Internet chatter that "Private" Katrina had joined the global jihad, or holy war. With "God's help," they declared, oil prices would hit $100 a barrel this year.
Venezuela's government, which has had tense relations with Washington, offered humanitarian aid and fuel. Venezuela's Citgo Petroleum Corp. pledged a $1 million donation for hurricane aid.
Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz also called President Bush to offer assistance. The minister of petroleum and mineral resources said Monday that Saudi Arabia is ready to immediately increase its crude oil production to replace any market shortages and help stabilize world crude prices.
The storm was seen as an equalizer -- proof that any country, weak or strong, can be victimized by a natural disaster. Images of flood-ravaged New Orleans earned particular sympathy in central Europe, where dozens died in raging floodwaters only days ago.
"Nature proved that no matter how rich and economically developed you are, you can't fight it," says Danut Afasei, a local official in Romania's Harghita county, where flooding killed 13 people last week.
Throughout Europe, concerned citizens lamented the loss of life and the damage caused to New Orleans, often described as one of North America's most "European" cities.
French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder sent messages of sympathy to President Bush. Chirac, who has famously quarreled with Bush over the Iraq war, addressed this letter, "Dear George."
Pope Benedict XVI said he was praying for victims of the "tragic" hurricane while China's President Hu Jintao expressed his "belief that that the American people will definitely overcome the natural disaster and rebuild their beautiful homeland."
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II also sent a message to Bush saying she was "deeply shocked and saddened" at the devastation caused by the hurricane and expressing her condolences, "especially to the families of those who have lost their lives, to the injured and to all who have been affected by this terrible disaster."
The U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland -- a capital at the foot of the Alps hit by flooding last week -- said calls were rushing in from Swiss individuals and institutions looking for a way to donate to relief efforts. (snip)

I don't know what the FEMA rules are, but would imagine that they are military in type/execution.
Just imagine if you had 20,000 people to move, tired, sick and scared.
It would have to be with strict rules, you get on the bus here, you get off there.......or else.
If not it would be mob rule.

FOUR MEN INDICTED ON TERRORISM CHARGES RELATED TO CONSPIRACY TO ATTACK MILITARY FACILITIES, OTHER TARGETS
Alleged Conspiracy Targeted U.S. Military Facilities, Israeli And Jewish Targets In California
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Four men have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Santa
Ana, California, for their alleged roles in a terrorist plot to attack U.S. military facilities, Israeli government facilities and Jewish synagogues in the Los Angeles area, the Department of Justice announced today.
The seditious conspiracy charged in the indictment, which also included nearly a dozen gas station robberies intended to raise money for the terrorist operation, was allegedly run by an inmate at California State Prison-Sacramento who founded a radical Islamic organization known as Jamiyyat Ul-Islam Is-Saheeh, or JIS. Recruitment of participants in the conspiracy began in prison, according to the indictment. Upon being released from prison, defendant Levar Washington then allegedly recruited other co-conspirators to plot terrorist acts and commit armed robberies.
The six-count indictment returned today charges the following individuals:
Kevin James, 29, a/k/a Shakyh Shahaab Murshid and other aliases. James, a U.S. national, allegedly founded JIS in 1997 while in prison;
Levar Washington, 25, a/k/a Abdur Rahman and other aliases, a U.S. national;
Gregory Patterson, 21, a/k/a Bilal, a U.S. national;
Hammad Samana, 21, a lawful permanent U.S. resident originally from Pakistan.
The indictment charges all four defendants with conspiracy to levy war against the United States government through terrorism and conspiracy to possess and discharge firearms in furtherance of crimes of violence. Washington, Patterson and Samana are charged with conspiracy to kill members of the U.S. government uniformed services and conspiracy to kill foreign officials. Washington and Patterson are further charged with interference with commerce by robbery and using and carrying a firearm in connection with a crime of violence.
All four defendants are currently in custody on federal, state or local charges.
Today's indictment alleges that these defendants turned their terrorist plans and actions against locations in their own country, targeting American military facilities, religious institutions, and other facilities right here in the United States, said Attorney General
Alberto R. Gonzales. Thanks to the work of able investigators at all levels of government, any further acts of violence arising from this dangerous conspiracy -- a conspiracy which included identification of target locations, procurement of weapons, firearms and physical training,
recruitment efforts, and financing operations through armed robberies - were prevented.
This case illustrates the importance of law enforcement partnerships and the cooperation we see every day in our terrorism task forces, said FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III. Sharing intelligence about criminal elements in our communities gives all of us a better understanding of individuals who may be supporting terrorist organizations or plotting terrorist activity.
U.S. Attorney Debra Wong Yang of the Central District of California said, This case demonstrates the value of the Joint Terrorism Task Force. Diligent work by the local police led to the disruption of a terrorist plot that had the potential to cause significant bloodshed. They reported their findings to the FBI and all levels of law enforcement worked together to protect the United States and her people. Terrorist organizations have so far been unsuccessful in executing their devious plots in Southern California, and I promise that we will all work as hard as possible to continue to keep you safe.
The indictment alleges that James recruited fellow prison inmates to join JIS and preached the duty of members to target for violent attack any enemies of Islam, or infidels,
including the U.S. government and Jewish and non-Jewish supporters of Israel. James allegedly distributed a document in prison that justified the killing of infidels, and made members take an oath not to talk about the existence of JIS. He also allegedly sought to establish groups or cells of JIS members outside of prison to carry out violent attacks against perceived infidels, including the U.S. government, the government of Israel, and Jewish people.
Washington, also an inmate at the Sacramento prison, joined JIS in about November 2004, and was paroled at the end of the month, according to the indictment. In December 2004, James allegedly instructed Washington to recruit five people to train in covert operations, acquire firearms with silencers, and find contacts with explosives expertise or learn to make bombs that could be activated from a distance.
The indictment alleges that beginning in about December 2004, Washington, Patterson and Samana targeted and conducted Internet research on and surveillance of U.S. military facilities - such as recruitment centers and military bases - in the Los Angeles area, as part of their plot to kill U.S. military personnel. In July 2005, Patterson and Samana allegedly used computers to research military targets in the Los Angeles area, while Samana drafted a document listing Israeli and U.S. targets in Los Angeles. In addition to the U.S. military targets, the co-conspirators specifically targeted Israeli and Jewish facilities in the Los Angeles area, including the Israeli Consulate, El Al (the national airline of Israel) and synagogues. They also allegedly engaged in firearms and physical training, in preparation for attacks.
According to the indictment, the defendants purchased weapons or otherwise tried to acquire weapons in furtherance of their terrorist conspiracy and made efforts to raise money by robbing gas stations. The indictment alleges that 11 times beginning May 30, 2005, the defendants - armed with shotguns - robbed or attempted to rob gas stations in the several cities and towns in Southern California, including Los Angeles, Torrance, Playa Del Ray, Bellflower, Pico Rivera, Walnut, Orange, Playa Vista and Fullerton. The indictment alleges that during the gas station robbery spree, Patterson updated James on the progress of the planned war of terrorism against the U.S. government.
If convicted of all of the charges, the defendants face life in prison.
These criminal charges are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin E. Smith, Deirdre Eliot and Greg Staples of the U.S. Attorneys Office in the Central District of California. The criminal investigation into the alleged terrorist conspiracy was conducted by the Long Beach Joint Terrorism Task Force. The lead investigative agencies in this investigation were the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Torrance Police Department, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the California Department of Justice. Substantial assistance was provided by the Counterterrorism Section of the Criminal Division, U.S. Department of Justice; the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department; U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol at the Department of Homeland Security; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the United States Coast Guard. Participating in the Long Beach Joint Terrorism Task Force and providing support during the investigation were the Long Beach Police Department, the Los Angeles Port Police, the Redondo Beach Police Department, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office work collaboratively with federal prosecutors during the investigation.
The charges contained in this indictment are allegations only and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless convicted at trial.
