The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

It's hardly a unique fashion statement for a mass transit rider: a Yankees-style cap, and a "New York" sweat shirt.

But the New York Police Department is teaming with British authorities to determine whether those items were worn by suspects in the London terror cases to send a "purposeful message" to the city, according to an NYPD officials.

David Cohen, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of intelligence, raised the concern earlier this week at a security briefing for business leaders at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

This just adds and entirely new dimension to this saga. IIRC there were quite a few co-ed's missing during the last few years in D.C. Most of this info. came out during the Chandrs Levy investigation. Missing or murdered co-eds at a Starbucks in D.C., and a few other sordid stories.

Thanks Exsoldier...I was just grabbing at that info. from that far recesses of my tired brain. Now that I have confirmation...I can stop trying to check the info. on the search engines. My personal opinion is that during clintoons reign there were probably quite a few young girls that billy boy had a "go" with. And I think it probably included a circle of other men in that echeolon of power...and I surmise that they shared.

all three men have chauffeur's licenses and that Koubriti also has a commercial truck driver's license.

My, my, my the only thing you didn't uncover about these 3 plotters is if whether or not they operated a moving company (great information you DID find on them!). Freaking incredible they had been so deeply entrenched in potential terrorism prior to this, but were free to continue plotting and planning...(with chauffeurs and commercial truck drivers licenses to wit). Not a warm and fuzzy feeling about THAT! Wonder how many more like them (with similar backgrounds) are running around our country (or more correctly, sitting down planning our demise).

He said there was no doubt that the terrorists could make the bomb, that he had taught them and worked with them in the California colleges and Labs (Lawrence-Livermore).

That it will be easy to make a simple nuclear weapon, like the one used in Nagaski.

That the caller should not be so smug, the terrorist truck driver, had full plans to blow up the George Washington Bridge.

He is very worried about the possible use of fuel trucks to blow up things, he talked of his invention that will stop a truck for a couple hundred dollars. Which he gave the Patent on, to the California Highway Patrol and the State of California.

With his invention, the truck stops and the driver will have to get out of the truck and reset it, or will not be able to move.

The one that Homeland Security is talking about, will cost
$5,000 and not require the driver to leave the truck to reset it.

After 10 years the UN is finally looking at his land mine finder that is dragged by a helicopter, they asked him to demonstrate it.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Customers were caught off guard Sunday when two bombs detonated at two Valencia locations.

    At 2:40 p.m. security personnel at Valencia Town Center found debris outside of the Johnny Rockets restaurant after shoppers reported hearing an explosion. A crude chemical reaction bomb had been placed in a planter outside the restaurant.

    Shortly after that, employees at Barnes and Noble Booksellers reported an explosion to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to the scene to find that a similar bomb had detonated in a trash can outside the store.

    There were no injuries or damage reported in either case."

1) Earlier UBL story (Iraq invitation to UBL by Zarqawi) was several reports, but all looked like "echoes" (all reading same jihadi chatter). No reputable source (yet) has reported it as an "official" threat (like the NYC-LA-Chicago tanker threat).

Interesting original specific AQ WMD 11/03 threat was NYC-LA-DC. (3 cities, 2 the same ones - - maybe because DC not as high-value until after Labor Day because everyone is gone in August - - that was why they deliberately waited in 2001 for everyone to come back from August recess)

2) Tanker threat seemed to have the current threat window (now to 9/19) not Ramadan.

3) Latest DEBKA assertion (that volume of encoded messages is unprecedented since pre-9/11) so far has no corroboration. I would imagine the "hair on fire" stories would leak in the next few days if it is true. I'm not sold on that just yet as, unlike pre-9/11, there are plenty of independent "watchers" who would probably notice if a surge of coded messages started to fly around.

European 30-day deadline expires (tomorrow?).

I'd see the threat as a continuum, starting now and peaking in Ramadan.

It is a global offensive, not theater-based or regional.

As you know, to understand the enemy you have to see the world through their eyes. To them, we are all part of a worldwide "Zionist-Crusader" conspiracy. The battle is to "liberate" Iraq, then Palestine (building on chaos of disengagement). So hitting the rear areas (Europe and America) of the "dual occupation" will (as they see it) lay the groundwork for a successful "Tet Offensive" in Iraq (which like in Vietnam they can lose in reality as long as they win in the battle of perceptions/expectations) that would (again, in their mind) lead to a regional upheaval (by taking the US down a few notches).

Spectacular attacks followed by a fairly organized offensive. The objective is to deal a crippling blow to national will (which has already turned to a large extent) which is our center of gravity. I'm not saying it will succeed, but that's my estimate of their strategy. They are betting the national reaction will not be post-9/11, but post-Madrid.

They are going for "shock and awe".
