The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

It's hardly a unique fashion statement for a mass transit rider: a Yankees-style cap, and a "New York" sweat shirt.

But the New York Police Department is teaming with British authorities to determine whether those items were worn by suspects in the London terror cases to send a "purposeful message" to the city, according to an NYPD officials.

David Cohen, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of intelligence, raised the concern earlier this week at a security briefing for business leaders at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

ARTICE SNIPPET: "CORPUS CHRISTI - A truck loaded with illegal immigrants led law enforcement on a high speed chase across southwestern Nueces County Friday morning. The chase started about 9:00 AM on U.S. 77 and County Road 4.

It ended about an hour later, on County Road 51 just south of FM 70, near the Nueces and Kleberg county line. This particular group wasn't typical of the vast majority of illegal immigrants who cross into South Texas.

After eluding constables, the Border Patrol and the Nueces County Sheriff's Department, a truck full of illegal aliens was caught when an AEP/CPL meter reader spotted their truck in a ditch. What officers found when they got there was not what they were expecting. As these illegal immigrants waited by the side of the road, law enforcement officers searched the truck and the ditches for signs of the driver.

"I'm sure we're missing the driver, because they're usually the ones; they'll bail out first and they'll run," said Nueces County Sheriff Capt. Vidal J. De La Cerda. "This is part of their job, this is what they do, the coyotes, is to transport illegals into the country. So, they know the ropes, and a lot of times they abandon these poor people behind, like they got, and they have nowhere to go, don't speak the language, so they pretty much gave it up."

Along the way, the officers tried to talk to the illegals immigrants but that task was made difficult by the unique language barrier. Officials believe these illegals were from China."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Even though the Maupin family has not been able to speak to their son in 16 months, they are taking steps to make sure others with family members in the U.S. military overseas can keep in touch.

Keith and Carolyn Maupin of Batavia, through their Yellow Ribbon Support Center, are shipping computer equipment to soldiers stationed in Iraq.

The Maupins' son, Army Spc. Keith "Matt" Maupin, has not been heard from since April 2004, after his convoy was attacked outside of Baghdad. A grainy video released later, claimed by an insurgent group to depict his execution, was ruled inconclusive by the U.S. military.

He is the only American soldier in the Iraq war whose status is listed as captured.

"When Matt's unit came home, we went to Fort McCoy in Wisconsin to see them," explained Keith Maupin. "One of the soldiers told me he watched his kids grow up on a Web cam while he was away. That's when we got the idea to do this."

The Web cams will be distributed to units, which will use them to post online video of the soldiers that can be accessed by their families and friends on the homefront."

AD, if you have to "hoof" it in to your hide-site, and the situation has gone super critical you have to take as a given that your site is compromised by somebody who wants what you've got. The best way in, if possible is a route wildly divergent from the one you usually take, in case somebody is waiting (I know, I'm just paranoid) to take you out. Even if it doubles the distance, you're better off doing this and still better if you can do so in inclement weather or darkness or both.

Doctor Ayman al-Zawahiri Ends the Legend of al-Qaeda

A deep analysis by the Global Islamic Media Front, an al-Qaeda mouthpiece, of Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri’s speech aired on al-Jazeera Channel on August 4, 2005, has recently been disseminated across several al-Qaeda affiliated forums. The analysis, titled: “Our Medical Doctor Ayman al-Zawahiri… Ends the Legend of al-Qaeda,” finds that Zawahiri has issued the “last legal call” to the West to completely withdraw from Muslim lands before al-Qaeda initiates “its upcoming big operation;” an operation that will end the “old era” of al-Qaeda, and propel the organization into a new phase with a “different method and through stronger struggle.”


The author notes the West’s reference to Zawahiri as the “Face of Death,” due to the events following his words, or a “prophet of war,” but concludes that Zawahiri, in the context of al-Qaeda’s role in history, is a “historian.” His speeches detail the harm allegedly wrought against Muslims, and provide commentary on world affairs and the “transformation of the Western world” which at the same time, tells the stages that al-Qaeda has underwent as it evolved in its “struggle with the infidel aggressors.” The latest speech is deemed the “final speech of a struggle of a part,” seeking to crystallize the struggle between the Islamic nation and those that “protect the cross.”


Further, the latest speech with its included “impossible requirements,” was understood to go unheeded by Western leaders. The author believes it to be an “exit card,” by which al-Qaeda “plays against the infidelity of the world” and causes the “breakup of the big cross that was threatening the whole world and specifically the Muslim world.” The message will make the “masks” fall, and following the destruction of America, will render Western nations as destroyed fortifications as the “revolutionary Muslim masses… are liberated.”
