PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: With the President, First Lady and the dogs relaxing at the ranch this weekend, there are no new photos to post. So I've selected a theme -- GWB and our Armed Forces -- and found many photos to let us enjoy a walk down memory lane. The theme photos are all from early in his presidency. They show GWB's closeness with our military both before and after 9/11/01.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
Monday, the President travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He will be touring the Sandia Laboratory there, and then will be making remarks after signing the comprehensive energy legislation that passed recently.
Tuesday, the President is going to have his economic advisors to the ranch. He will participate in a briefing with them on the state of our economy. Afterwards, GWB will make some remarks and participate in a press availability.
Wednesday, President Bush will traveling to Aurora, Illinois, where he will sign the transportation legislation. Aurora is the largest town in the north-central Illinois congressional district of House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
Saturday, tentative, but the President usually participates in an RNC event in August at the ranch. As of yesterday, the President's schedule was not firmed up beyond Wednesday.
QUOTE OF THE DAY Excerpt from the presidential radio address, Saturday, August 6, 2005:
As families across the country enjoy the summer, Americans can be optimistic about our economic future. In the past four years, our economy has been through a lot: we faced a stock market decline, a recession, corporate scandals, an attack on our homeland, and the demands of an ongoing war on terror.
To grow the economy and help American families, we acted by passing the largest tax relief in a generation. And today, thanks to the tax relief and the efforts of America's workers and entrepreneurs, our economy is strong and growing stronger.
This past week, we learned that America added over 200,000 new jobs in July. Since May of 2003, we've added nearly 4 million new jobs. The unemployment rate is down to 5 percent, below the average of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. And more Americans are working today than ever before in our nation's history.
We need to make the tax relief permanent, end the death tax forever, and make our tax code simpler, fairer and more pro-growth.
brand new BMW 760Li, in metallic pewter or silver ..
My next door neighbor has a new sliver BMW with sun roof.
But no picture of W.
We all should try to caption what the cop was saying to the Leftist dweeb.
Ohio, I see pix like that and I remember people I worked with in Germany in 1990 or so. They were very pro-American, and spoke American English (naughty words and all. :-)) They had grown up in the US sector in post-WWII Germany, and learned English, baseball, and what chocolate tasted like from American GI's.
I think our military now is sowing seeds of good will that will keep our country safe and appreciated for the next 60 years or more. Bless them all.
It's what this war is all about. Freedom and safety for everyone from the terrorists who are trying to rob us all of what we hold dear.
One General on Fox said, if you want to know what the country thinks of American soldiers, look at the kids.............and you'll know their parents feel the same way.
Amen to that
"Lookee here ..you take one more step outta this bus, and you'll NEVER forget what the words 'Texas justice' mean, SIR."
And the truth is that we are fighting an ugly enemy, and we are winning IN SPITE of the enemy within (the left) which is conspiring with the terrorists to try to make us lose.
But they won't succeed, polly. Remember that!
The supposed balanced Fox swallows leftist polls hook, line and sinker, Wolfstar.
You'd think that someone among them would question an AP poll, but NO.........they talk about it and analyze it as if it is fact.
Stupid. That's what it is. Stupid.
This is from a thread thisafternoon.
It tells you what an evil person Sheehan is.

Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party
Amen to that, speekinout! AMEN!
I would never mention them openly here or elsewhere, but even I -- no military strategist -- can think of ways they could maximize their effort. God help us all if they finally get themselves a smart strategic thinker with serious leadership and organizational skills. Even Bin Laden and his thugs were only tactical thinkers, not strategic.
LOL! It's obvious Mr. Marin County thought those Texas "yokels" would be push-overs.
"Listen here, BOY! You don't turn that there pile o'junk you call a bus around and head right on outta here, you gonna wish you never done heard of Crawford, Texas. And while you at it, don't stop 'til you get to the next county, cuz our county sheriff don't like the looka you, neither. YOU HEAR ME, BOY?!!!"
That has surprised me more than anything since I started to post. I knew they were here because I lurked for so long, but somehow it's different when you're inside, so to speak. I have been surprised by the nastiness/volume I guess.
Anyway, thanks for the pep talk. If it was spring, I'd go outside, but I think August makes me really grouchy!

Two articles on the same study. Everybody surprised at the findings say "aye"...

Thanks for the pix Wolfstar. Bunch of old hippies on that bus. Never did amount to anything, never will.
I like the Louis L'Amour women who don't become hysterical. Just watched Conagher (made for TV movie) with Sam Elliott and his real wife Katherine Ross as the lead woman. Also good is the Louis L'Amour (made of TV movie) The Quick and the Dead with Sam Elliott and Kate Capshaw.
The Violent Men with Glenn Ford was ruined even more by having the otherwise interesting and competent female love interest suddenly fall apart and deliver an hysterical anti-gun and and anti-violence diatribe at the end.
And Barbara Stanwyck's demand for equal star time for her conniving Big Valley character in that movie was a distraction at best.
Yes, the nervous chatterbox the writer made that female character in Red River was a detriment to the film. A more creative way for the two men to come to terms on their own would have been better.
I blame the writers for a lot of the awful female roles of those times.
I liked reading Robert Heinlein sci fi back then because he always had strong and interesting and deadly female characters who were also womanly.
Disgusting. No one (other than the most vile, hate-blinded fool) who has even superficially observed this President over the past several years would believe that. For those of us who have observed him so closely, we know the truth, as represented by the following:
Attending the Veterans Day Prayer Breakfast at Park Avenue Seventh Regiment Armory in New York, Nov. 11, 2001, GWB embraces Arlene Howard, who gave President Bush the badge from her son, George Howard, a Port Authority police officer who died at the World Trade Center.
For some reason, I thought Sheehan's son died recently, but apparently is was over a year ago, at least. Giving her the benefit of the doubt that she did love her son, I know grief for a lost child does not end. Nevertheless, she is not now caught up in grief that is new and fresh. She has had time to consider her actions.
Cindy Sheehan is a truly DISGUSTING human being!

"Say hello to Cindy:

-Anti-war Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1985
-In the 1980's, supported the Marxist Sandinista regime in Nicaragua
-In 1992, sent a delegation to Cuba to meet with veterans of Cuba's war in Angola
-In 2000, aided Saddam Hussein and condemned American-led U.N. sanctions against the Iraqi government
-In 2001, held a "Korean War Tribunal," which condemned the U.S. for alleged atrocities against Korea
2.) Unlike her recent interviews, Sheehan initially characterized her meeting with President Bush as follows:
"I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis," Cindy said after their meeting. "I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."

This woman is BENEATH pond scum and so are the leftists who are using her to hurt the President . . . and this is just a prelude to coming attractions in September!
BTW: This IS hurting the President both personally and politically . . . What should/can we do about this?!
I know how much you enjoy the third party types...not.
We had one on the live Mark Levin thread the other day.
After some of us bounced him around, he was zotted.
I don't hold back with these types as they are also
control freaks and I won't give them a chance.
