Doug MacEachern of the Arizona Republic covers the Air Ameriscam news blackout at the New York Times:"A scandal below the radar."

All it might take is for the "loaning" charity and/or
a city or fed prosecutor to ask a judge to order that
$400K of AA's funds be escrowed until the matter is
resolved.
AA probably doesn't have that much cash, so it would
amount to an immediate yank of their main circuit breaker,
and dead air the next day.
Would anyone notice (including the NYT)?
After all, their spew about how nobody "cares" about the disadvantaged, about senior citizens, is standard liberal fare. And the fact that they don't seem to mind if their favorite radio station steals from their pet groups? A matter of indifference, of course.
You see, everyone is to be *used* by liberals. Liberals *care* about as much as any of group of frothing ideological lunatics.
This is something that has always seemed odd to me--is it just a coincidence that this guy is so diverse (he is a lib'ral, after all) that he can run a multi-million dollar charity and a start-up radio station at the same time? Or perhaps it was no coincidence at all....?
...there is some indication that the current owner of Air America, Piquant LLC, may not have been aware of the loans at the time it purchased the network on May 24, 2004.
Piquant is taking a beating over this. They might want to use this little factoid to dump AA and sue everyone in sight. Just a suggestion, in case anyone's listening....
BTTT!
Someone needs to put a face on this. How many kids were denied a chance at camp because of the agenda af a few ideological fanatics. These kids don't give a rats ass about politics, but they pay the price.
The hypocrisy of these bastards slaps you right in the kisser.
There was a passing mention of this on Fox & Friends this morning. They may have covered it earlier or yesterday. If so, that is the only place you will see it.
No. I understand that Piquant bought out another company who was the parent of AAR. But I understand that most of the people are the same people who were doing the dealing in either case.
backhoe had a great set of links to the story. Spectacular as his collections usually are :)
this story is a text book example how the MSM spins by OMISSION as much as COMISSION.
It sounds like the guy's a grifter of the finest sort. I mean, his biggest story and the center of the sting was that he SPONTANEOUSLY recovered from a brain tumor!!! That's what "changed" his life and took him from a Guamian Republican to a Democrat Liberal and AAR.
Promised everyone everything. Showed one guy his list of assets of him and his partner, this Rex Sorensen guy. 12 million worth of property. Looked great. Until this thing broke when it was also revealed that they had a 3rd partner who actually owned the assets and who said he MIGHT have been willing to invest at one time but changed his mind.
Confidence men.
What confuses me though is that the Director of the Board for this Gloria Wise non-profit, a Ms. Graves says that she agreed to lend this Cohen $35k for chemo for his "brain tumor" but that "somebody" used a rubber stamp of her name without her knowledge to issue a check for $213k and another for about the same amount later. That "somebody" is identified in no accounts I can find.
Interesting times :)
Do we have a New York FReeper who can get film of angry parents and disappointed kids who don't have their club?
Now we have a Non- PROFIT, State and FEDERALLY GRANTED give a "loan" to Air America for $800,000.00!!!
What the hell is going on?
Yeah, the hypocrisy of both Air American and the New York Times.
I came by my tagline honestly ;)
No kidding! Sad state of affairs.
if anyone has any anti air america bumperstickers, ill be more than happy to slap em up wherever I go in NY.
