Interesting article, I recommend Ray Kurzweil's books and daily newsletter for anyone interested in these topics.

The future is going to be rather interesting to say the least (assuming we survive to see it).

And we're all going to be flying around in cars and spending summers on the moon.

Most interesting! But it doesn't fit my ping lists. Maybe one of the other list-keepers will pick it up.

My prediction: A failure to ban human cloning will result in a new "stealth" slavery that will be more contentious than the original slavery. Clone slaves will not only serve as body doubles or "multipliers" but also will be used for organ harvesting. There are no debates about this - either one is completely opposed to slavery in all its forms or one is not. There is no middle ground on this issue.

Fabulous post.

Current technology is so advanced that it will take us a generation to understand what we know today.

Machine and man are integrating, right here, right now.

We may well end up in a state that can only be defined as nearly immortal. We will never be as God, and those who seek such will destroy everything.

I think the scenarios in the post covered this nicely.

slaves will not only serve as body doubles or "multipliers" but also will be used for organ harvesting.

They made a bad movie with a great plot about this -- "Parts: The Clonus Horror." (It has a 2 rating on IMDB and was used in an MST3K episode).

I have said many times that if a good producer were to remake (from scratch) this movie it would do well -- because it is starting to look plausible.

Sounds similar to the recently released movie, The Island.
