President George W Bush welcomes Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe to his ranch in Texas, they went for a drive, held a private meeting, and then held a joint press conference. After lunch they spent the afternoon discussing regional security and diplomatic issues.
Further background can be found at President Alvaro visits Crawford
Vice President Dick Cheney is leading a delegation to Saudi Arabia to pay respects to King Fahd (no photos or report to be found almost as if there is a media black out on this). This is strange in 2 respects one no photos and that all reports seem to indicate that all other countries sent people the previous day to the Memorial Service.
Yesterday Secretary of State paid her respects to the late Saudi King Fahd by signing the Book of Condolence in the Saudi Arabian embassy in Washington.
New U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton in his Security Council debut, pressed Syria and Iran to do more to stem the flow of terrorists, arms and funding into neighboring Iraq
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Yes .. there was a chain of stores called Service Merchandise like that .... I believe they went out of business, however.
Oh snugs, I am so sorry I missed your ping yesterday. I went back to see what happened & it was tucked in between the three massive ones that tonk does each day for the canteen.. I just scrolled past apparently. They are the same graphic intense ones each day.

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld (right) tours the set of the television series CSI: New York with actor Gary Sinese (left) during a visit to Los Angeles CBS studios on Aug. 4, 2005. Rumsfeld visited the CSI set to thank Sinise personally for his support of the "America Supports You" program through his "Operation Iraqi Children" effort. Sinise co-founded Operation Iraqi Children with Seabiscuit author Laura Hillenbrand in March 2004. The organization collects and ships school supplies and toys to Iraq for distribution by U.S. troops, providing much-needed materials for Iraqi children while boosting the morale of the service members who pass them out. Hah! I love those pics with the ladies sitting in the comfy chairs under the shade of the trees!!
I was looking for some figs in the story yesterday. I just got back from two weeks in Japan with our daughter, and while there I had Fig Pound Cake for dessert one night. It was scrumptious, and I'd love to try to make some!
Rummy and Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump!
It's possible he needs te help of friends to walk, since he is the half brother of Fahd and probably close to the same age.
LOL .. it appears so, and he could be barefoot and in wrinkled overalls, and I'd still think he was AWESOME!
We had a fig tree in our back yard when I was growing up in S. MS! My Mama used to preserve figs every year. I didn't like them then, but I love fig preserves now. Go figure!
I wondered that but then I remembered I had seen a clip of the group walking together and he seemed fairly steady on his pins.
Remembering when he visited the Ranch and other photos taken elsewhere with President Bush holding his hand or arm I think it is middle east/Saudi protocol that the 2 heads of state do that. In this case VP us representing the President in this capacity hence that type of greeting albeit briefly.
Thanks for your kind wishes I had a lovely time as soon as I have some photos I will post them
