SCIENTOLOGY CLINIC BAD MEDICINE: EX-WORKER
NY POST ^ | 8/04/05 | Stefan C. Friedman

Posted on 08/04/2005 2:41:51 PM PDT by T'wit

A SCIENTOLOGY-run "detoxification" clinic in Manhattan is endangering patients because of its leaders' strict adherence to the church's teachings, a whistle-blowing former employee has told City Confidential.

The source, who until recently worked at the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification program on Fulton Street, said he witnessed "strange practices" at the tax-funded center, which was co-founded by Tom Cruise.

Nice investment for scientology -- $115,000 bribe to a New York pol nets $600,000 stolen from taxpayers.

My apologies if this has been posted. I searched, but don't claim to be good at it :-)

This is nothing but a kook fringe cult. If Cruise was a nrmal man he would be derided and laughed at by the liberal media. But because he's a leftist moron, they give him credibility he and his cult do not deserve.

I know. I would have posted the whole thing but that's evidently not an option. I don't post much :-)

It is more dangerous than kooky.

Well, Scientologists have one point, though. Rather than stuffing your body with Paxil, Proza, Zoloft, etc. they recommend a balanced diet and exercise.

And no, I am not a Scientologist.

A disaster was narrowly averted last summer when a firefighter ran out of a 170-degree sauna — part of the detoxification method, along with exercise and large doses of niacin — because he was "having trouble breathing," according to one witness.

As the firefighter's hands were "turning blue," a call was made to clinic higher-ups for guidance. "They said it was just a 'manifestation' and that we should go back to the book until it passed," one horrified witness recalled.

Yeah. When I was doing the Purif I had to tell one 8 or 9 year old's dad to stuff it and let his daughter out of the sauna to cool off before she collaped of heat stroke.

Rondroids! *pffftooie*

I'm an ex-scientologist. Paxil is my friend.

Eating healthy and excercising is recommended by just about every normal person under the sun. It's not a unique concept to the cultist.

YEAH RIGHT. And they also recommend you sign a "billion year contract" and get hooked up to a meter when you are starving to death.

And don't forget that according to them we all were dumped off in a volcano in Hawaii by the evil galactic ruler "Xenu"...

Scientology is one of the sickest and most dangerous organizations on the planet.

Well, even a stopped clock is right twice and I agree with them on this point.

Do you take Paxil? I go 5 times a week to the gym (always after work) and have a very healthy diet. No fast food. Low fat. Low sugars. etc. And, guess what? I feel great! It all started when I got this terrible clinical depression some time ago. Rather then going to the shrink and stuffing myself with antidepressants I decided to increase my work-out routine and upgrade my diet. Worked for me.

Scientology is one of the sickest and most dangerous organizations on the planet.

That's overstating it a bit.

BTW, the billion year contract? That's only for the 'elite' SeaOrg members, not even for all staff.

Also, it wasn't just Hawai'i, there were several volcanos they claim were used as what amounts to soul crematoria...

EUPHORIC, I Said "SCIENTOLOGISTS HAVE ONE POINT". As 1. As in only one redeemable virtue.

That's true, yet Scientologists emphasize in a more ardent way than, let's say, Catholics, Jews or Methodists.

Excellent. If one can avoid drugs, one should.

Exercise, diet, rest, and a low stress environment aren't always enough, though. I find a minimal dose of Paxil works wonders for me.

It's much more compatible with my pressure cooker Silicon Valley engineer lifestyle...

Maybe his Body Thetan was retaliating.
