"ACT, as big as it was, had not put John Kerry over the top, but the group had "held conversations at 4.6 million doorsteps about the truth about the Iraq war, about the state of our healthcare system, about the economy." It had registered half-a-million new voters. In the last days of the campaign it had made 23 million phone calls, sent out 16 million pieces of mail, and delivered 11 million fliers. And on top of it all, it had "launched the largest get-out-the-vote effort the Democratic Party has ever seen," turning out "unprecedented levels of voters in the battleground states." This plus Evan Thomas providing 15 points and frenchie still ate dirt on election night. This proves what a worthless bag of dung the guy was. None of that effort by the act scum or thomas said how good frenchie was because they couldn't find anything to say besides that he wasn't Bush.

In a way, it didn't fail. In 2004, America Coming Together helped create a record Democratic turnout — a performance that would have been a fabulous success had not the other guys turned out even more.

This is the most fascinating bit. The coalition they put together would have win fabulously in every election in American history except one - this one.

In other words, it would have worked, but it didn't!

It isn't the money, it is the message! Helps to have one other than vitriol, deceit, and ignorance!

Which tells me that they made that many ATTEMPTS. They must have been paid for each attempt and thus they jack up the numbers in order to justify the money they recieved.

It is amazing how the left rips off even the left.

Connect the dots. With the collapse of this huge money maker (spender), the Democrats are suffering monumental loses. Think about it: Air America is in BIG trouble; there's a huge split between the labor unions...one the Democrats leading contributors for campaign contributions; the liberal media's decline and exposure as a biased institution (Rathergate)...and none of this even includes the Democrats loses in Congress, which also includes the once Democratic "Solid South."

You'd think with these obvious failures that the democrats would perhaps change their course; but no, they've only become more shrill and hate-filled as the failures continue to mount. These are some of the most inept people on the planet, were their ignorance is only exceeded by their arrogance. Their loses don't become reason for reflection, but instead become a search for excuses for their failures...blaming everbody except themselves. They can't even see the irony in running a liberal candidate as a conservative in an attempt to win...by fooling the voters. Forget what they think of themselves...what do they think of us?

They spent $200 million - and they have nothing to show for it.

Hmmmm?? Isn't that what democrats in the congress do also .. throw our money at issues WHICH NEVER GET SOLVED.

Yes, the article was a joy to read. During the campaign, for reasons unknown to me, I got several e-mails from America Coming Together asking me to take part in their Bush-bashing activities. I got a great deal of pleasure e-mailing them back and telling them what they could do with their organization.

It had "enabled Democrats to take back the Oregon state legislature for the first time in 10 years.

No way. Oregon has become more and more liberal in the past few years, way before this stupid group was formed.

To me it's Jason............

And you'd better belive that if the least bit of complacency or smugness sets in with the republicans, it will cost big in the next election.

I agree we did score a significant win. But, in order to keep these gains, we had better duplicate that level of intensity for every election or......

You'd think with these obvious failures that the democrats would perhaps change their course...

If they were actual Democrats, that is a national party that contained liberals, they would. But they are Leftists who have taken over the Democrat Party. They will tack Left even if it brings the Democrat Party to the rocky shoals of destruction. They don't care if the Democrat Party is destroyed, they are just using it to advance the Leftist cause.

Service Employees International Union, which gave $3 million... this outfit definitely needs new leadership.

I wonder how many members this union has? I think they might have been better served by having three drawings with the winners keeping a cool mill.
