Faith -

Cite one example, please. I'm a media hound - look at reactions spanning the entire media - and have not found one case of anyone "revel[ing] in the death of American soldiers." Just the opposite, in fact.

Agreed on that! Funny thing is that all the publicity was about how the poor civilians were under siege, but no one knew that Camp Falluja wasn't getting resupplied then either. Lots of people there. Food, water and diesel ran periously low.

But we let them re arm and resupply. Go figure.

A huge can of whoop ass is about to get opened on Haditha.

Exactly right (and as others have said, Haditha has been needing this for the longest time. That has been an open secret to those on the ground there)

May God bless these brave Marines we lost and comfort their families.

No, don't know who is there now.

Haditha has always been a contested area with very little secure area.

Lots of IEDs and booby traps.

Tough area to be sure, tougher still because there are not any alternate routes in that area.

Go back and re read. I'm not calling you or any VN Vet losers. I'm saying that the government prevented the victory you/they deserved.

I can't imagine how anyone in the U.S. can keep a straight face while santcimoniously proclaiming that "a free Iraq" (whatever the hell that term is supposed to mean in a Third World toilet) is supposed to vindicate our military presence there.

Then you are hopelessly ignorant - And not willing to be intellectually honest - You have an opinion based off fear and a 19th century mentality that isn't worth talking in circles with -

Best regards

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those families that have lost a loved one.

Let there be little doubt that we will win this war on terrorism.

Take off the gloves,now.

But I can see where I could have been clearer and it appears that I unintentionally did exactly what you said I did. Not my intent at all. Sorry.

14 Marines dead today. Why? Who are they fighting over there? Have our guys gotten any 'kills' in the past 3 months? Won any 'battles'? Stopped any 'terrorists' from making it over here?

Utterly devoid of any intellectual thought - Simply pathetically empty -

What really ticks me off, as much if not more that the IED, is the fact that someone allowed an Iraqi to set up some of our Scout Snipers for ambush. Marine Scout Snipers are not easy to replace.

There's a video supposedly showing some of what happened out on ogrish. Standard jerky video, just mute the idiotic chanting. I was going to include a summary of the video but figured some on FR would ream me for doing it. You should watch the videos and see if you can figure out what happened. Couple of questions I had after seeing it: who was driving the white extended cab pickup at the beginning, why only one set of dog tags (I assume these came from the Marine found a mile away), and why only two sniper rifles in the cache on display? I was under the impression that six Marines equals three two-man sniper teams.

Until we stop fighting like Vietnam we will not stop getting results like Vietnam. Syria is a sanctuary, so is Iran. Why do we allow our enemies sanctuary? Go into Syria and take that government down. Same with Iran. Shock and Awe for them. But instead we continue with bullet magnet patrols. Tagline:

First off, the current war in Iraq (and GWOT) is nothing like Vietnam - (just suggesting that shows you have a lack of intellectually honesty behind our views OR you are unwilling to be intellectually honest...for whatever reasons).

Additionally the majority (great majority) of those we are fighting ARE NOT from foreign Countries - Roughly between 5-10% are foreign fighters....the other 90% are mostly Sunni Iraqi Arabs (though the foreign fighters are a very violent bunch).

War is not about "placating platitudes".

It's even more than the "hard work" President Bush spoke of during last year's debates. It's ugly and horrifying work that requires extraordinary troops. We are well represented in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It will take a long time, but we will win. There is no other chopice, but to win.

So pathetically empty that it seems to have gotten you a little riled. How about THINKING about what I posted and providing a bit of decent criticism instead of roundabout ad hominem? Hmmm? I stand by my posted opinion. No one has given a response that isn't, as I first stated, a placating platitude. Got anything other than that? I'm all ears eyes.

You posted "have we got any kills" -

That is so either intellectually empty (to try and make a cut with) or so childishly foolish it isn't worth pointing out the facts to you.

Again, any and all who read that within your post can make a readily quick assessment that writing to you pointing out clearly obvious facts readily available to anyone (with a serious intellect) is simply a waste of time.

Serious people are too busy to waste time on the foolish.

That whole area up around Haditha is bad news. Lost a good friend of mine up where the road turns into the air base. He took some with him.

I wonder if its just too much area for a battalion or even a regiment of Marines?

I know the community and the families are taking this hard, I wonder how the unit is taking it?

It's ugly and horrifying work that requires extraordinary troops.

I know war is ugly and horrifying work. I am questioning whether or not what is occurring in Iraq can still be considered a 'war'. If you and President Bush wish to call it part of the War on Terror, you may do so. However, we're not exactly making progress on that front, are we?

We are well represented in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Perhaps too well represented.

Maybe you know the answer to this question: Why hasn't Saddam Hussein been brought to trial yet? He was captured...what was it...12/13/03? How many Iraqis are losing steam in their supposed battle for democracy because of his being allowed to live all these months? How many people are starting to 'feel sorry' for the man and no longer see him for the monster he is? Is that what you call winning?

Meanwhile, we citizens of the United States of America are being overtaken right here at home, slowly losing our own democracy in many ways, the invasion of illegal 'immigrants' foremost among them.

Good question - with regard to the first part of your comment - Though if those Marines need more guns in the fight I am certain they will get them (or more than likely they are already there staging or engaging).

Without a doubt Haditha was going to be dealt with sooner or later (we chose later for a variety of reasons) - Losing those Marine Sniper Teams shows we most likely were crossed by a trusting source (that SOB needs to be put in the ground! Ugly-ly).

As for the second half of your comment may God bless and comfort these families. Taking it hard is about the only way (sadly). God I am certain has already blessed these fallen soldiers and prayers that he comforts the families is all we can ask for.

I'm sure the unit is angry and focused. They want their guns to stay in this fight. They want to make Haditha everything these thugs don't want it to be (the best revenge ...outside of killing each and every one of them.....which these Marines will do their best to do as well).

Serious people are too busy to waste time on the foolish.

Now that's what I call pathetic. You don't have any facts with which to debate, so you bow out by again using the roundabout ad hominem terms 'foolish' and 'childishly'. Fine with me. You haven't changed my opinion, 'serious' person.
