PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The State Bar's Disciplinary Board has recommended that former South Dakota Gov. and U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow should regain his license to practice law next February.

If the state Supreme Court accepts that recommendation, it would mean Janklow would be reinstated to practice law about a year before his probation ends for second-degree manslaughter and other convictions related to an August 2003 crash that killed a motorcycle driver from Minnesota.

This is the same man that was arrested not once, but twice for putting a police bar on his family station wagon, so he could drive home without having to follow the speed limits.

This is the man that was arrested TWICE for driving a motorcycle without a license, apparently the Govenor of the state is above the laws that us mere motals must follow.

This is also the Govenor who wrote Elk/Mule Deer, any gender, any age licenses for his family, on his office stationary; so his family could go 'Big Game' hunting in Custer State Park over the Christmas vacation.

Well, he did stop for the accident, served 100 days in the hoosegow and resigned from congress. Too bad fat Teddy didn't do the same for worse.

"Lawyers Boards of Professional Ethics" and the like are
always such a oxymoron. Kinda like a "customer service" orientated IRS.

Was there any public commentary on this?

Most such situations solicit public commentary about the person seeking reinstatement. Was any public comment given?

Does south dakota have an ABATE chapter? It seems they should have been front and center to comment on this.

Nothing pisses me off more than people in power that do not own up to the responsibility that comes with their 'priviledge'.

This man should be fried for murder. Yes, fried. No not tried, he has already been proven guilty.

Bill Janklow is a poor excuse for a human being let alone a lawyer. He ruled South Dakota with as much intimidation and bullying as Stalin. His routine flaunting of the law not only with speeding but in a host of other cases should make him ineligible to practice until at least his felony conviction is regretably expunged.

Standards to practice law in South Dakota are a bit lax as other than his law degree from the University of South Dakota Janklow has only a GED and no other college degree. He slipped through a loophole (subsequently closed) that allowed him to go directly from undergraduate study to law school without first receiving a degree.

Bill Janklow should have been sentenced to a week of community service in Sturgis during the rally.

And the rubes at Sturgis haven't a clue and could care less.

South Dakota should be banished from bikerdom because of Janklow. They (South Dakota voters) voted him in enough times to annoint him as King. Which is the crown he wears when it comes to South Dakota law. They turned a blind eye to his reign of lawlessness on the road and gave him a token punishment when he killed a member of the group that forks over 90% of South Dakota's tourist dollars.

F**K Janklow & all South Dakota Voters who voted him in, time and time again!
