The "scarebus", since all survived we can have some fun.

Here is an interesting fact.

Airbus has not been around as long. Most of the fleets of aircraft are not that old and second hand users of aircraft are less. Most of the users are European, North American, or Asian nations with a purse that can afford good maintenance, new airframes and maintain high regulatory standards set by their governments (FAA in the US for example). Furthermore, look at some of those airstrips in these third world nations where more Boeings are being used.

YET: When it comes to flight safety and sheer statistics, place two through six are all Boeing products. Even place one is no Airbus, but rather a Saab. Of course, the 777 is not included, and it has had ZERO crashes to date.

777 or A340? I’d rather fly with a 777, but some would say that’s just “patriotism” speaking.

Is this a mere coincidence, or some random statistical anomaly? We’re dealing with millions of flight hours, thousands of aircraft, and hundreds of thousands of take offs and landings. Maybe the person compiling the data was biased? :)

In the meantime, Airbus has retrofitted its fleet of aircraft so that pilot over control is less likely. So that the tails of aircraft don’t “pop off”. Would you want to be the on the first flight of the A380 with passengers? Look at how they are “rushing” it. In their hopes of maintaining market share and not loosing ground to Boeing, they are blasting into existence a A350 as well. If you want to see a quick demonstration of the first Airbus 320 loaded with VIPs in flight, go to:

I like flying on the A330, very comfy plane, I also like the 747-400, and the 717.

Best opportunity I had was a flight on the 747-SP, from Capetown to Johannesburg to Frankfurt.

I'll never get a chance to fly one again, only about 40 left, most owned by governments.

If I were to encounter a wind shear, I would want to be in a twin engined plane, because they are required to have more reserve power.

Oh, yes, the ol' A320 "Weed Whacker"; subsequently produced with pilot controlled trimming height and a large, red "E-Stop" button that would tell the flight computer "Just shut the Hell up and let a real pilot fly this bird!"
