Breaking News from CFRB 1010AM News Radio - Toronto
Airliner on fire on the ground at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Unclear as to cause. Announcers asking for updates from motorists in the region on HWY 401. Report says great deal of smoke. I have to go into a meeting shortly but I'll listen for updates as long as I can.
It's wild ass speculation because 99%+ it's not even terrorism and when it is it's 75% or more probability that it's not a SAM.
I've been in several airplane accidents and near accidents and not one SAM yet .........

That would be a miracle. Hope it's true. It still seems awfully early to report everyone survived. I could see such an early confirmation if there were 20 or 30 people on board; but upwards of 300?

Local police are saying that the pilot was taken to a local hospital.
That won't be the case at LAX next time.
People give flight attendants a hard time, but they are in those planes to save lives in times like this; not to serve drinks (but they do that too). I bet they did their jobs well this time. I hope everyone thinks about this the next time they look down on an FA.
My husband is a pilot. Knowing him, I'm confident that he would have waved off had he known how severe the weather was.
