Breaking News from CFRB 1010AM News Radio - Toronto
Airliner on fire on the ground at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Unclear as to cause. Announcers asking for updates from motorists in the region on HWY 401. Report says great deal of smoke. I have to go into a meeting shortly but I'll listen for updates as long as I can.
Eyewitnesses at the scene haven't reported seeing any survivors.
CTV: Drawing parallels to a 1978 crash on same runway at YYZ.
You're accout is BS. Save it for another thread.
It shouldn't; lightning hits aircraft all the time, and they're designed for it.
However, there are rare positive bolts which are much, much stronger and suspected in some mysterious crashes.
"I think the bush's in the ravine helped to cusion the shock of the crash"
But ... but, someone posted it was the FAULT of the Bush's. :)
Oh, get a grip.
CNN
Eyewitness talking about a 'valley' at the end of the runway; that the plane ran off the runway and into that valley area.
That's a little early. No one know the cause of this at this point.
I think you typed that post into the wrong browser window.
www.tinfoilhat.com is that way <
The runway numbers are named by their compass bearing, 24 = 240 degrees. L and R are when you have 2 parallel runways.
If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going! Only been on an Airbus once, and hated the egg shaped seats.

<>Both A/C from Paris CDG departure
Prayers for the passengers....
Bump for later read.
I think wind shear was the cause of that one, also!
I remember lining up with hundreds of people to give blood..
I also remember that the most horrifying thing at the time, was that a motorist on a freeway near the airport was decapitated as the plane came down and crashed...ugh.

***
I flew Airbus twice...had more room than those Boeing puddle jumpers on Useless Air.
My old airline got hit lots of times by lightning, when you think about it, you are an ionized metal tube, its a wonder more planes don't get zapped.
