University rebukes employee for e-mail decrying lesbianism By Joyce Howard Price THE WASHINGTON TIMES July 31, 2005 A state university in New Jersey has reprimanded a student-employee for describing homosexuality as a "perversion" in a private e-mail that he sent a female professor, after she sent him an unsolicited announcement about a university event that promoted lesbian relationships. But Jihad Daniel, 63, who works for William Paterson University repairing computer hardware and takes graduate-level courses part time, said he was only expressing his Muslim religious beliefs when he responded to professor Arlene Holpp Scala, head of the university's women's studies department. Mr. Daniel wants a letter of reprimand from the university's president removed from his permanent employee file. The letter says he violated state discrimination and harassment regulations for using the term "perversion." The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), a nonprofit group based in Philadelphia that is assisting Mr. Daniel in his fight with the university, calls the action taken against him "absurd" and an infringement of his free-speech rights. "William Paterson University is knowingly disregarding the U.S. Constitution. No one here was 'harassed' or 'threatened,' as defined by the law. The university simply strongly disliked a student's point of view," said Greg Lukianoff, FIRE's director of legal and public advocacy. Mr. Daniel received an e-mail from Miss Scala on March 7 advertising an upcoming viewing and discussion of the film "Ruthie and Connie: Every Room in the House." The e-mail referred to the film as a "lesbian relationship story." Mr. Daniel replied to the professor the next day asking that he not be sent "any mail about 'Connie and Sally'... and 'Adam and Steve.'?" "These are perversions," Mr. Daniel wrote.

Jihad Daniel?
It's alright to receive unsolicited mail from one party, but not the other?
I hope he takes them down big time and puts an end to this harassment and intolerance of people who want nothing to do with the homosexual agenda.
Hope he wins, and gets the letter of rebuke pulled from his file -- and even further to hold the University to account for harassment.
It's alright to receive unsolicited mail from one party, but not the other?
It depends on who's partying and where the party is taking place:
It might be wise for them to not be screwing around with somebody named Jihad.
The only way this lifestyle will win anything is to force it upon us. It will never be fully accepted, even if it's legal. God is way long overdue.
Read anything by Mike S. Adams, and his plight with Academic Elites and the Feminists, Gays, and Anti-war kooks.
The more they try to stifle his viewpoint and punish him for being a gun-toting, cigar smoking conservative, the more speaking engagements he books, and the more books he sells.
What can you expect from NJ. They elected a screaming queen - Jimmy McGreevey - as governor.
Poor old "Jihad" being told how to think properly.
It is a little strange considering all the players.
Where are the Lefty champions of the First Amendment? (cue crickets)
Liberofascism cannot permit opposing views to be voiced. To supress opposing views, liberofascism defines all expressions of critical thought as hate speech unprotected by the First Amendment.
Liberofascists are willing to use government to suppress their critics. Liberofascism denies the existence of God, and it teaches that there are no irrevocable God-given rights: the government defines and grants rights.
Liberofascism deposits nothing outside of its own intellectual superstructure as a basis for morality. It supports ephemeral absolutes, as it were, which derive from perceived political and social needs liberofascsim also defines. In other words, it shifts endlessly from one fashionable moral righteousness to another endlessly, which is, ironically, evidence of its moral bankruptcy.
Collapse seems inevitable, but as long as enough citizens pay taxes, fight to defend the nation in the military, and send their children to university to be indoctrinated by liberofascist proponents, the contradictions can be denied. Only when the citizenry speaks loudly and clearly enough will sense and reason be victorious, funds to the fascists of liberalism removed, and the perilous philosophy assigned to the trash heap of history.
Reminds me of a linguistic class a few years ago where the prof was a woman and there were a total of three or four men (out of 12-15 students) in the class. We were discussing the usage of banning certain words to force acceptance of ideas. My female classmates and prof were flat-out telling me that they had a right to attempt to curtail certain words in order to control people's thoughts. Apparently they didn't think anything was seriously wrong with that Orwellian Thought Police concept of language.
"Jihad Daniel?"
I had the same question: Daniel is a Hebrew (Old Testament) name meaning "God is judge" or "God judges," so why is an Muslim named "Daniel"? Odd. Perhaps he converted, but then why take the first name "Jihad"?
Nice of them to monitor speech and thought for all of our own good. I wonder what makes them think they have that right? Delusional elitists.
This just shows how laws about "harassment" or "non-discrimination" can be taken to absurd levels. The fact that this man could not say freely what he believes in response to an unsolicited email violates the first amendment TOTALLY.. I wish this would go all the way to the Supreme Court (once Roberts is on board) so these excesses could be overturned
