Texas Municipal Worker Ordered Stray Dogs Drowned
The Indy Channel ^ | July 31, 2005 | A.P.

JOURDANTON, Texas -- Some city officials in Jourdanton, Texas, are outraged that a public works supervisor ordered employees to drown six stray dogs at the city sewer plant, rather than having the animals properly euthanized.

For punishment, the supervisor was ordered to attend classes with animal control officers.

City councilman Darrell Richter said the workers took the dogs from the pound to the sewer plant and dropped their cages into the water.

A child saw the drownings and told his mother, who complained.

Richter told the San Antonio Express-News that he's disgusted by the incident and upset with the supervisor getting "a little slap on the hand." He said a crime has been committed and should be dealt with in a more serious manner.

Since you are continuing to let it suffer in the slow inadequate trap (and obviously enjoying it's suffering)....I suggest you immediately shoot it in the head or smash it with a shovel. Put the thing out of it's misery that you caused it.

Animal control came out to the house this afternoon and took it. They said they will take it to a vet for a check up and determine if it is a protected species of rodent. Apparantly the trap did not hurt it and the fact that I gave it food and water - and did not shoot it - means they will not press charges against me if it does turn out to be protected.

Whew, was that good news to hear.

...."Arrogant little b*stard, aren't you?"...

I know who my Father is, do you? I thought name calling was verboten here. The first time I questioned someones salvation here, they pulled my post. Anybody that would rather go to hell than be with Jesus obviously doesn't have a clue. The Bible was written for people like you that give more importance to animals than is deserved. Animals are here to serve man, but that doesn't give us the right to abuse them. Getting an animal to the table is pretty barbaric to some people, but thats because they live in a fantasy world where there is no suffering. Like I said in my post, I would have dispatched the animals quicker, but the animals end up dead, one way or another.

PS. The Bible is not silent on animals having souls. Read it again.

....."I have 4 dogs which I picked up from the pound.".....

God bless you, but you are the exception to the rule. I've never paid for an animal in my life. My wife bought a cat once,....biggest piece of crap we ever had.

What a Christian question. Would Jesus ask such a question? OK, I'll use a better term: Hypocrite. You don't show love, you only demand it.

The first time I questioned someones salvation here, they pulled my post.

Because your type of "thinking" is anethema to true teachings. And I am starting to think you are a troll, pretending to be a Believer. I have used this technique on DU.

PS. The Bible is not silent on animals having souls. Read it again

Please give a reference. If you survive, troll.

Rationalizing spending thousands of dollars to save a deer while pooh-poohing the death of a homeless drunk makes you the MOST IGNORANT POSTER OF THE DAY!!!

Congratulations!

Uh, sorry, stupid, but the MILLIONS of dollars spent fixing what happened with the Exxon Valdez went to alot more than the saving of one deer. That oilspill wreaked havoc on a habitat that will take decades to get it back to where it was. It can have worldwide repercussions with an oilspill that massive if not cleaned up to the best of their ability. Pull your head out of your ass and think about it next time or do some research, you'll see where the money went. I'll give you one little hint, it wasn't all to help the animals.

A society that wets it's pants over Bambi while one of it's HUMAN citizen's miserable death is rationalized as the unfortunate result of his own rather unfortunate free choices, is a sick society.

If you can't see that.....

You make my point.

You'd cause a human death for him being an idiot, for doing something that was standard operating procedure for hundreds of years.

IMO, that's infantile city slicker "dude" absurd PC brain dead bunny hugging bovine excrement. IMO.

I'd chalk it up to HYPERBOLE but I know better.

You call me a bastard and question my Christianity? My Father is in heaven, yours is the father of lies. You've been around 2 weeks and you call me a troll? You call me a bastard and say I don't show love? Who's the hypocrite?

BTW, Jesus is interested to know who your Father is. Like I said, Read your Bible.

The only reason I comment on these posts is because people "THINK" they know what God says about things, but don't have a clue. This is where the "cafeteria" Christianity comes from. That's why we have abortionist, sodomite, gay marraige, ordained women minister, stuff in our churches. They haven't read the Bible and don't intend to.

I think you need to go back to DU where you belong,.....July 19, 2005.....sheeeesh!

I see you fell into the Newbie trap.

Ad hominum attacks due to how long you think I have been here. You demonstrate self-importance and arrogance -- truly Jesus-like traits.

If you are the example of Christianity, I will join a mosque.

"I never said drowning dogs is ok. I said LOOK AT THE REALITIES OF THE WORLD"

I never said drowning humans was OK... If anything I may have left off the "/sarcasm" tag. I maintain that at some point you need to have an accounting of what this guy did.

I don't believe ANYONE said all the money was spent to save animals, you have a reading comprehension disability.

porkchops 4 mahound wrote: I remember after the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the Feds and the State of Alaska and the NGOs air lifted deer who had eaten "contaminated" seaweed. These several DEERS were given the best care, and nurtured back to health then air lifted again back to be released......In the same exact time frame a street person froze to death on a grate in downtown Anchortown. No worries, he was just a street drunk afterall. Hmmm several Deer, one dead drunk.

You replied: I think there is an important difference here. The deer had no choice about food and it wasn't their fault that oil was spilled, contaminating everything in site and ruining their habitat. It was a man made disaster. The street person who froze to death made his choices. He didn't have to be a drunk, do drugs, refuse to work for a living or live on the streets.

I'm gonna have to stand by my statement that you are the most ignorant poster of the day. You are correct that the drunk made his choices, still I'm certain that he would've greatly appreciated 1/10000th (yes ten thousandth, helicopter airlifts are really expensive) of the money being spent to save "several deer" giving him a warm place to NOT die. I have no deep love for homeless, but I freely admit I'd rather see a PERSON saved than a hundred deer. Wanna try for two in a row?

You are missing the point - perhaps not well put on my part.

You must admit the time has arrived when we seriously do need to wonder if it is legal to kill a rat we trap in our home, that and what is the legal way kill it if it is legal.

Certainly I do not enjoy seeing an animal suffer. And right now I would love it if my cat that has been missing for two days would walk through the door and come jump up on my lap.

Same god you worship anyway. Animal gods, moon gods, etc, gets you to the same place. Well, you know what they say about pearls and swine,......well, maybe you don't.

Just an insensitive idiot.

" BTW, THis is why the Bible says we have dominion OVER the animals.

This is also what the bible says about animals:

"A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."

Proverbs 12:10

As to "this is why the bible says we have dominion over the animals"-- Dominion over the animals/over all the earth was given in Genesis 1. (God happened to bless the animals there, also). It wasn't until after the fall that the shedding of blood would be required for the remission of sins. So butchering and killing animals was not originally part of the 'dominion' package.
