JOURDANTON, Texas -- Some city officials in Jourdanton, Texas, are outraged that a public works supervisor ordered employees to drown six stray dogs at the city sewer plant, rather than having the animals properly euthanized.
For punishment, the supervisor was ordered to attend classes with animal control officers.
City councilman Darrell Richter said the workers took the dogs from the pound to the sewer plant and dropped their cages into the water.
A child saw the drownings and told his mother, who complained.
Richter told the San Antonio Express-News that he's disgusted by the incident and upset with the supervisor getting "a little slap on the hand." He said a crime has been committed and should be dealt with in a more serious manner.
I have no respect for PETA anymore.
I didn't know being hard-hearted and supporting cruelty was a conservative prerequisite.
Looks like rmmcdaniell was a troll and had his account suspended. Probably someone trying to make Freepers look bad.
I think it was a joke on his profile page.
"(I remember after the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the Feds and the State of Alaska and the NGOs air lifted deer who had eaten "contaminated" seaweed. These several DEERS were given the best care, and nurtured back to health then air lifted again back to be released.
None of this was FREE. It took money from our budgets, lots of money.
In the same exact time frame a street person froze to death on a grate in downtown Anchortown. No worries, he was just a street drunk afterall."
I think there is an important difference here. The deer had no choice about food and it wasn't their fault that oil was spilled, contaminating everything in site and ruining their habitat. It was a man made disaster.
The street person who froze to death made his choices. He didn't have to be a drunk, do drugs, refuse to work for a living or live on the streets.
God made humans with a thinking, reasoning brain. The animals can't reason. Any reasonable person wouldn't take a cageful of dogs and toss them into a sewer plants water.
I can list a million things that are cruel and inhumane but that doesn't mean we shouldn't fight it when we see it. I don't agree with abortion but just because it exists doesn't mean that drowning dogs is ok, that's a small child's reasoning.
Since you are continuing to let it suffer in the slow inadequate trap (and obviously enjoying it's suffering)....I suggest you immediately shoot it in the head or smash it with a shovel. Put the thing out of it's misery that you caused it.
YOU have EVIDENCE that there IS a Heaven and Hell? Or do you just have Faith.....Do you have EVIDENCE that animals won't be in Heaven and that they have no Souls? Or are you basing that on Faith?
What a brutal thing. UGH. Despicable. Dogs are so very trusting, so very eager to please. Doing that to them is hideous. Against God's sovereign manifestation of what He created dogs to be. Anathema.
Fix your crappy house and just turn the critter loose in the yard if you are so worried about it...
Police: Angry Man Throws Puppy Off Fifth-Story Balcony
MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Police arrested a Miramar man after they said he threw a 2-month-old black Labrador puppy off his fifth-floor balcony.
Josper Sanon.
Josper Sanon, 49, was upset that the puppy had urinated and defecated inside the apartment, police said. Investigators also said Sanon threw the puppy over the balcony to its death in front of his two sons.
Police said a patrolling officer learned of the crime when he spotted Sanon's son crying in the parking lot of the apartment building. When the officer asked what happened, the 16-year-old told the officer his father killed the puppy by throwing it off the balcony, police said.
The teen then showed the officer where the puppy's body was in the grass nearby, police said.
Sanon is charged with animal cruelty. He is being held on $2,500 bond.
Sanon's sons are staying with a relative while their father remains in jail.
"Would you crucify this fool over these dogs with the unspeakable acts people do to people every frikkin day as background? As perhaps "perspective"?"
As with anything... You have to draw the line somewhere. You just want to draw the line in a different place. The majority rules most of the time and this is a good case in point.
The person is an idiot and if the little city doesn't have the funds to follow the law on this count then where do they draw the line?
Maybe they shouldn't put up stop signs around town because it's too hard to dig the hole for the post and if a person gets killed in the process then so be it. In this case it may clean the gene pool.
"By withholding food and water as was done with Teri Schiavo"
Your grasping for nothing... Try to stay on topic.
"The truth is, the same people that rant about the dogs demise, won't ever go to the pound to get one. If it doesn't have papers and cost $300, they ain't interested. Millions of babies scream and writhe in agony as they are dismembered, but there is no punishment for their murders."
I have 4 dogs which I picked up from the pound. I think these people should be fired.
It is absolutely emotional. Governments make laws against cruelty to cute little doggie-woggies while livestock chickens and cows face a lifetime of being treated little better than Nazi concentration camp inmates. If you think a drowned dog has suffered even a fraction of what a cow faces every single day of its life you are moron. Its fools like you that give political power to the peta types to regulate and perhaps someday ban meat-eating because the logical holes in your anti-cruelty philosophy are large enough to fit galaxies through.
These same laws also govern scientific research. Minimum standards and research necessity must be demonstrated and there are regulations in place, even for lab rats.
Which increases the cost and dificulty of conducting such research. PEOPLE are dying because of these research rules.
Like I said in my previous post, you have absolutely no respect for any life beyond your own.
No, you are just an illogical, bleeding-heart liberal.
And you have the nerve to snidely suggest I was off topic. When I was answering a direct question.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Pet's are important family members.
Arrogant little b*stard, aren't you? The concept of pets in the year 0 was pretty much a non-sequiter. Today, we have learned to add animals to our lives. They display love, they have intelligence (cats and dogs are apx. a 3-year old), and they fulfill a role in our lives.
God put these here to be part of our lives. If I die and I see you instead of my beloved pets, I will ask to be sent Down South.
The Bible was written to directly address a bunch of illiterate, barely civilized near-savages. The fact it is silent on pets one way or the other does NOT remove them from having souls. But it would have complicated things incredibly if they tried to describe how a sould could exist in a being that can't understand Minstering.
I hope you get the heaven you deserve. With selfish, shallow little people just like you.
I don't have a crappy house. The critters just seem to like the fairway at my back yard.
