Jane Fonda, just like her Hollywood buddies, just tried on different things for size (including Christianism) but the ongoing commitment was too much work for her. The price of admission into the leftist "club" is de-facto renunciation of one's American-ness.

Their opposition to capitalism is their creed, thus they must oppose any action which would tend to advance capitalism or tend to expand American power.

Viet Nam was fought to prevent the spread of communism, therefore the Jane Fondas of the world were opposed. The Iraq war will advance American power and influence, but more importantly will tend to make the American capitalist system "safer", thus Fonda and others must oppose it.

They fancy themselves "citizens of the world", they have no country, but true citizens of the world could not possibly oppose capitalism and embrace the misery brought by socialism.
