The sign may be controversial, but the Rev. Gene A. Youngblood said it is researched and speaks the truth.
"Islam is evil and believes in murder," reads the sign at the entrance of First Conservative Baptist Church and the Conservative Theological Seminary on St. Augustine Road in Jacksonville. "Jesus teaches peace."
References to specific Quranic and biblical verses accompany the statement, which Youngblood said are meant to serve as a warning to society.
"I am of the opinion, based on enormous research of the Muslims' own books, that Islam is the most vile, wicked, evil danger facing the world today," Youngblood said.

It seems to me that if charges of hate speech are raised the result is that Islam will be put on trial...it shouldn't be classified as hate speech if he can prove it's true. Of course truth is immaterial to the PC crowd that'll be sure to become involved.

In Islam, the REAL reformers are Bin Laden and Zarqawri, as they are returning to the fundamental precepts of Islam as recorded in the Quran and Hadiths.
Well, an Islamic reformer could use the same approach as Luther. He could simply remove the parts with which he disagrees.

Youngblood said he wanted to show that his views of Islam are not those of a close-minded, ignorant preacher but of someone who has studied world religions for 41 years and taught on them for 31... On Tuesday, Youngblood said he is willing to defend his views with Malik in a one-on-one, televised debate.

True. There is a tendency towards "abridging" people, rather than books, in Islam.
People get upset about this, but not about some 'imam' preaching 'blow up the infidels!' What a weird world.

I seriously doubt it. I know many Baptist preachers, and almost to a man (at least the ones I know) are men of deep conviction. They aren't politicians who can be cowed.
I just have to ask...do you believe the Catholic Church was practicing proper Christian doctrine during the time of Luther?

Of course, then it would mean, "White men and Women named Bill and Hillary Clinton should have all the power," but that is too many words for DUmmies.
To be honest I see no problem with the Koran being interpreted in a way that does not instruct violence. Just as there are many interpretations of the Bible, so can there also be with the Koran.
As an atheist I don't really mind which book people believe in, as long as they don't use that book to promote violence.
And before someone flames me with "all muslims hate democracy - there is no such thing as a moderate muslim", remember all the Iraqi soldiers who are signing up in droves to fight for democracy.
