This would be quite funny except for the tradgedy of being a "subject of the Crown" rather than a "citizen".

The .44 Magnum revolver - "the most powerful handgun in the world" is NOT! A .454 Casull or .480 is more powerful.

The 'police' are dismayed at people having guns.
I hope the British are happy with their 'police state'.

If we didn't have a discharge reg where I live, I'd be out in back with my .44 Mag (S&W) culling the herd who eat my landscaping - LOL! Actually, I'd probably not want to blow them apart so bad, so I'd in reality opt for something a bit more graceful - I love venison!

How do those compare to the .50AE?The .50AE is not more powerful than a .44 Magnum. It just has a bigger bore size.

A spokeswoman for the Home Office confirmed that an exemption had been made under the Firearms Amendment Act, 1997, to allow the use of handguns "as slaughtering instruments for the humane killing of animals".
Then you should be able to carry on the subway, right?

I can't figure out this statement:
"A senior Scottish police source explained: "This exemption covers veterinary surgeons, who were allowed to keep their handguns".

Yep. I got to try one out last week. The cartridge looks almost 2 times as big as a .44 magnum. It kicks harder than a 12 guage! I wouldn't like to be anywhere near the business end of that beast.

"It may seem incredible to a layman that that is the case, but it does to us as well. Very few stalkers use handguns unless they are in very dense undergrowth, where it is difficult to use a rifle, and most would use .38 calibre weapons."Unbelievable, but I guess I understand... You've got people who know nothing about guns in general, and hunting handguns in particular, making decisions about what handgun to use for hunting.
I suppose that a .38 special or .357 magnum would be OK if you're going to finish off a deer in the head at close range, but as far as using a handgun to hunt deer, the minimum I would ever use would be a .41 magnum, and a .44 magnum would be the best.
As for the recidulous comment about the .44 magnum being the most powerful handgun in the world, well, I guess they don't watch many movies over there...

Use enough gun. Anything less is stupid and inhumane, and potentially suicidal.

How do those compare to the .50AE?The Desert Eagle in .50AE is far more deadly than a S&W 629 in .44Mag. At 71 1/2 ounces, it's much easier to beat someone to death than with a puny 45 ounce 6" 629!

I wouldn't last long over there, I'd be locked up for disrespect or for pi$$ing on some mandate or another.
Couldn't do it, I refuse to beg for equality, freedom or free speech.
(I get claustrophobic just thinking about being there)

No doubt about it. It's a "bear" stopper.

"On a DEER? The expert is an idiot." I'm sure the "expert" was refering to a deer that had already been rifle-shot but was not dead. In such cases, a .38 would be adequate for putting the animal out of its misery with a carefully placed shot.

What's interesting is that a very similar round, the 500 Linebaugh long (actually .510 caliber), has been around for decades now as a custom modification in revolvers. Instead of using the 500 linebaugh long S&W had to come up with there own so it could be called the 500 S&W mag.
