Fishy milk hits shelves in boost for healthy living [fish oil added to "Super Milk" in Scotland]

A "SUPERMILK" containing Omega 3 fatty acids derived from oily fish is to go on sale this week.

It is produced by cows which are given a special fish oil blend along with their normal feed. A 250ml serving contains ten times more of the Omega 3 acids known as DHA and EPA than regular milk but is said to taste the same.

Omega 3 fatty acids tackle heart disease and ensure healthy nails, hair and skin.


Claire Williamson, a nutrition scientist at the British Nutrition Foundation, said many people in the UK do not eat the recommended one portion per week of oily fish.

"Consuming oily fish is linked to a decreased risk of heart disease," she said.

"A healthy, balanced diet is the best approach and I would encourage people to eat oily fish, but if people don't like it we have to look at alternatives."

According to the Food Standards Agency, Omega 3 fatty acids are found in certain vegetable oils, but these may not have the same benefits as those in fish. The Fresh Omega 3 milk will go on sale at Marks & Spencer this week.

I got called into Preschool once because my oldest told everyone at school I was a witch. She told them I have special powers because I could see through walls. I could hear what they were doing and would holler "Stop doing..." and they were amazed so I told them I could see through walls. I had to have a good laugh before I could explain. They didn't find it as amusing as I did.

I also told them that there was a red dot that came up on their forehead when they lied that only mom's could see. So when I knew they were fibbing I would ask them to show me their forehead and if they pressed their bangs down I knew they were lying. When they'd flip their hair back tight for me to see, I knew they were telling the truth. You should see the stares when I would give them that 'look' like yeah right and they slap their bangs back tight with a defiant "SEE" look on thier face and people at the stores or wherever would just stare. Yes, we are a strange folk. LOL

We eat fried chicken livers down here in the south. It is a delicasy (sp)

Gizzards too - I seem to remember them on (and off) the menu from SE TX to NW FL...

I love it!!! ROFLMAO!! Oh, my gosh, I just bet a few mom's like us could get together and write a book of tricks. I used to get my boys to not only eat peas, but eat them like they were candy. I told them they were "power pellets", they'd make them grow strong and smart.

Also, when they real little and I would give them each a cookie, sometimes they say they wanted "two". So I'd take each of their cookies, with them watching me, and I'd break each into two pieces and then hand them back.

It was the "idea" of having two cookies that they wanted. Fun memories. :)

Also made with seal meat. The result of fermenting meat protein in the absence of oxygen.

The meat is sealed in a hide and buried in late summer under a pile of rocks to press out the oxygen and prevent rotting.

In the spring it is dug up and eaten.

It is basically a form of Prosciutto or cheese based on meat protein rather than milk.

When the first white man offered cheese to the Eskimos they remarked that it was very much like, Ignunaq.

Apparently Ignunaq tastes very much like an aged cheddar and doesn't even taste fishy. It has a green color so you might like to call it moon cheese.

I'd stay away from lutefish and that black fermented soy concoction that the Japenese inflict on foreigners as a breadfast food.

My general rule is avoid all foods that look like they seaped out of the rusted corner of a dumpster or that smiles at you while you're eating it.

As for me I don't eat innards or organs of critters. GAG.
Also I won't eat anything that has been a pet before, so duck, rabbit, turtle, dog, cat, g-pig, ect are off my menu. Won't eat venison either.

Gator is very yummy though and that is about as exotic foodwise I will go.Probably would try snake.
