Woo Hoo!!!

The day has finally come! Fox News replaces ABC News radio for top of the hour news updates and special reports here on the 50,000 watt clear channel blow torch of the Rockies 850am KOA this coming Monday August 1st. This was mentioned by the folks here on Colorado Morning News this morning.

===

The Clear Channel press release from back in December 2004:

Clear Channel Radio Names Fox News as Primary National News Provider to More Than 100 News/Talk Stations

Service Includes Five-Minute Top-of-the-Hour Newscast, Nightly Signature Newscast and Dedicated 24/7 National News Coverage

Deal Creates Direct Competitor to ABC Radio and CBS Radio San Antonio and New York – December 6, 2004 – Clear Channel Radio and Fox News today announced that Fox News Radio will be the primary national news service for more than 100 of Clear Channel’s news/talk stations under a five-year deal beginning in 2005. The agreement incorporates many of Clear Channel Radio’s most prominent news/talk stations, including those in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix and Atlanta. Fox’s new full-service, general-interest news offering will feature Fox News’ top talent and include a five-minute top-of-the-hour newscast, a nightly signature news broadcast, and 24/7 dedicated national news coverage. Fox will also be the primary provider for breaking national news.

Also under the agreement, Fox News Radio will have access to news produced by Clear Channel’s more than 500 local news journalists via the company’s Clear Channel News Network.

“Working this closely with a premier national news provider for the majority of our news/talk stations makes overwhelming sense,” said John Hogan, chief executive officer of Clear Channel Radio. “Because of the breadth of this relationship, our local news directors will get a more customized and higher quality national news product – and that’s great for listeners.”

The Clear Channel Radio news/talk stations currently get national news feeds from a variety of providers.

The agreement with Clear Channel Radio, the first major affiliate group deal for Fox News Radio, dramatically broadens the Fox News Radio reach, creating a direct competitor to ABC Radio and CBS Radio.

“This deal positions Fox News to become a significant player in the radio industry and is another example of our commitment to the medium,” said Roger Ailes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Fox News. “We look forward to working with Clear Channel Radio – one of the most innovative radio operators in the industry.” If all options are exercised, the Clear Channel Radio deal could bring the Fox News Radio affiliate count to more than 500 by mid-2005.

Will be curious to know if others are aware of their local Clear Channel radio station making this change to Fox News.

Congrats. Must smell like freedom.

Now we have Mike Rosen, Rush Limbaugh, Gunny Bob Newman and Jon Caldara... and now Fox News all on one station. It doesn't get any better than that!!!

Same here in Tucson KNST. ABC news radio is worse than Al Jazeera. Since the november election every ABC radio newsreader (with the possible exception of Gil Gross) have sounded almost suicidal.

Good. I hope my clear channel station will do it soon too. I've always thought ABC radio enjoyed prodding conservatives with their liberal bias since they know that most of the AM dial is dominated by conservative talk radio. Now they are going to pay a price for their bias.

The free market at work, indeed.

The story that Fox News is moving into radio, first reported about a year ago, is the single most important political developments since Rush Limbaugh emerged. You cannot overestimate the influence that "top-of-the-hour" five-minute newscasts have on the commuting masses. For most people, this is all the news they ever hear.

This is very, very big.

Columbus has.

610 WTVN has (I believe) switched to Fox. It's subtle, since 610 has a lot of local 'talent' on the newsreader end, but sure enough, they got some bit of foreign news on Monday from... Catherine Herridge.

And the economic news cited Gary B. Smith (the Chartman from Bulls and Bears on Fox's Business Block).

Hey, the more I hear Lauren or Kiran's voice on any given day, the better, IMHO.

= )

Fox News radio replaced our seeBS news. It was like fresh air had arrived. I had no idea you did not need to be terminally ill with Bush Derangement Syndrome(BDS) to be able to do the news.

I think the fallout from Rathergate continues. Our main local talk station is changing from ABC to FOX for news. The next largest AM talk in our market is picking up the ABC and dropping CBS.

Absolutely Correct. ABC Radio News broadcasts would make the old Soviet Minister of Propoganda blush. ABC Radio News is absolutely the most biased "mainstream" news outlet in the US today. They find some new reason to bash the President in almost every newscast. They are liars and scumbags and Freepers should complain to any radio station or station group that uses them.

Now that you have Mike, Rush, Gunny, Jon AND Fox News, I would bet that April Sesbaugh (sp?) is having cow. If I reccomember correct, she once said she left KNUS caus "she did not like the direction the station was going." KNUS went center right. And now KOA goes to Fox. Steve Kelly will have to help her in and out of her straight jacket. HEHEHEHEHEHHE!

I like Fox News better than any other news source. However, we get Fox on AM1460 here in Colorado Springs, and I don't like the substance of their radio news. They go through it too fast. It's almost like they just read headlines - no depth. "The space shuttle went off today. A bomb exploded in Iraq today killing 2. Pres. Bush said the war on terror must go on." etc.

Steve Kelley moved to the local Fox TV affiliate KDVR channel 31 starting this week. See this link: http://www.fox31.com
You will see that Steve is prominently featured on the banner page before you get redirected to their main site.

Fresno still uses CBS. Our local talk show hosts have made reference that the news is 'a bit squewed'. Hopefully, they will get the clue too.

Don't ya love it when listening to conservative talk radio. the top of the hour ABC Ann Compton telling you the "facts" as she sees them, or better yet, ignores.

This, after already knowing the truth from various RELIABLE sources.

If is wasn't Ann Compton it would be a 5 minute 'indepth' segment with George Stephanopolous (spelling?). Ironically over the past few weeks most of those indepth pieces have been with folks from Fox News from all over the world. I guess they've been getting folks ready.

On the KOA 850am overnight hours during the weekdays we have wacko leftists Rick Barber and Big Steve Seidenfeld. I can't wait to hear their reaction! They both trash Fox News on a regular basis.

KOA late night sucks. And weekends have been going south too since Dan Caplis went to drive time. Big Steve seems a nice enough fellow, but he must get his facts off the bathroom wall.
