Prayers For Red Sox Star Matt Clement

Posted on 07/26/2005 5:28:28 PM PDT by CarlEOlsoniii

vanity

For any Boston Sox Fan Freepers (and I know there are some)please pray for Matt Clement. If you are watching the game, he was just incredibly hit by a hit ball in the head on the mound. He lied on the mound for at least five minutes, motionless. The most shocking moment I have seen in sports. Please pray

Got the game on NECN.
This just from the Team:
"Never lost consciousness, CAT-scan negative, overnight at hospital as a precaution"

Keep up those good prayers folks.

"...Oh, I'm not Irish, but have been accused of having an Irish temper. Does that count? LOL!..."

I'd say it counts, and is damn near required!! hehe!

Yeah, I was going to use "ass" too, but I'd lurked for a couple of years off and on before signing up and didn't know if they'd let it fly, you know? I know we've chatted in the past, because I remember looking at your about page once before, can't remember the thread(s) though...

Anyway, how am I doing, Onyx?? : )

Great news for clement. Gonna have one hell of headache for a few days, and a damn good story for his grandkids.

Lacrosse balls are made from very dense rubber. They can cause a great deal more damage than a baseball - it's why all lax players wear helmets, as opposed to only the offense in Baseball.

Thanks, SP. I always learn something on FR. I take it you were hit by a lax ball or a rock?

Not sure of any docs on this thread, but I would assume that would be normal, right??

See that a lot with blunt force traumas like that. Don't know the exact physiology of it, but it is like the pain receptors in the injured area shut down for a short while.

Thank you for starting this thread... I'm a Red Sox fan, but regardless of what team Clement plays for I am praying hard for him. That hit by the ball to his head was just AWFUL to watch. The NESN announcers Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo sounded like they were going to cry while the docs and paramedics he lay motionless on the ground for five minutes or more... it didn't look good for him at the time.

Update from the Red Sox organization: Matt Clement never lost conciousness, the results of his CAT scan were negative. He will remain overnight in the hospital (whatever hospital is closest to Tropicana Field - they didn't specify) for observation (my paraphrase).
